I was there today... watched DLS look strong in beating O Tech and Piedmont Hills, both games by about 15... Their PG is still out with an injury, but otherwise they were full-strength.

Saw St. Joe's wondering just what I'd see after two top players (Vaughns and Campos) graduated... Turns out they look pretty decent. Saw their wins over SRV (by 4 or 6, I think) and over Newark Memorial. They'll have a smaller margin for error this year, especially if they play the man-size non-league slate they usually do... But Lippi always seems to make his teams much better than they appear, year in and year out.

The most pleasant surprise was San Lorenzo. They went an under-the-radar 22-6 last year vs a not-real-strong schedule, losing in the 2nd round of NCS Div. 2 to Redwood. If they play the same strength-of- schedule this year, they could very well head into the playoffs with less than 3 losses, possibly even zero losses... At least if they keep playing like they did in taking care of host Moreau... SL beat the bouncy, athletic Mariners by 17, making them look rather bad at times... and I know they are NOT a bad team!

I see now that San Lorenzo followed that impressive performance with a 1-point loss to "Pinnacle" (Valley Christian in disguise, apparently) while I was driving home. That was Pinnacle's only win in pool play.

How did Salesian look? Heard they got a transfer or two.

I didn’t get to see Salesian. I did see them at Dougherty Valley last week... Certainly good, but not fantastic... But I don’t know if said transfers played.
