Three of the top four seeds have advanced to the semi-finals and are all from the EBAL. No. 1 seed Foothill-Pleasanton has wins over Monte Vista (6-2) and Heritage (9-0). The Falcons have won nine of 11 games, including splits with California and De La Salle over that stretch. Now, Foothill will face off with California for a fourth time. The Grizzlies are expected to send Steven Verespy to the mound to start the game. California has won 11 of 13 games.

De La Salle is back in. the semi-finals and have won the last four NCS Division I titles played. The Spartans have scored 18 runs in two playoff wins. Three of their six losses have been by one run. They will host Liberty, which went undefeated in the BVAL during the regular season and knocked off No. 2 seed Clayton Valley Charter in the quarterfinals. The Lions have given up three runs per game and have gone 17-2 over the past 19 games.

so how does the playoffs work in baseball? one and done? or is it like basketball you still get a at large bid even with a loss in the section playoffs..

I'm not sure on how teams get selected from section but here is the breakdown on bids

Sac-Joaquin (10), Central Coast (9), North Coast (9), Northern (6), Central (4), Oakland (1), San Francisco (1)

One crazy thing is no team from San Francisco plays in Divisions 1-4 in NCS.
Lick is in D4 but didn’t make NCS for some reason.
Some pretty big upsets in the other brackets not mentioned.

The sectional bid rules probably will differ according to section. The following is CCS's allotment:

C. The berths allotted to the Central Coast Section for the CIF Northern California Regional Tournament will
be distributed in the following manner:
1. The four semifinalists from Division 1 will receive four (4) of the berths. (4 teams now set as Bellarmine, Palo Alto, Valley Christian and St. Francis)
2. The remaining berths will be distributed equally among the other divisions (5 champion teams from Divisions II-VI)

This is what I found out from the CIFNCS website

A Regional Championship will be held following the completion of CIF Section playoffs. The CIF Seeding Committee will determine the divisional placement of the Section entries for their respective regional tournament. The nine (9) entries that will determine the divisional placement of the Section entries for their respective regional tournament. The nine (9) entries that will represent the NCS in the CIF Nor-Cal Regional Championships are as follows: the NCS champion in Divisions 1-6 (6), and the three (3) highest remaining championship runner-ups in Divisions 1-6. In the event of a tie between the highest-seeded championship runner-ups(across all divisions), NCS staff will use the established at-large and seeding criteria to select the final entry or entries. (Board of Managers 1/29/21)

I'm not sure what represents the three (3) highest remaining championship runner-ups in Divisions 1-6 but assuming Maxpreps ratings or NorCalPreps rankings has any merit here, it should include De La Salle, Foothill, California, Cardinal Newman, Liberty or Marin Catholic assuming any of these are not already sectional champions and additionally they are runner ups included in a divisional championship game.

Looks like 40 teams qualify, so would that be 5 divisions made up of 8 teams per division?

It appears that for for the SJS, Champions and Runners Up in DI-III, along with the Champions from DIV-VII are the 10 qualifiers for Nor Cals.
