The final round is coming this Friday and Sat.

D1 Saturday 12-6

#1 DLS 12-0 vs. #3 Pittsburg 9-3......DLS 45 Pittsburg 14...At Dublin High at 7:00 P.M....What can you say, Pittsburg played tough defense and took care of Foothill 10-7, BUT, DLS beat Foothill 56-21....If Chris Vanderklugt suits up, DLS will have their usually offense balance minus a few....If Devin Asiasi starts at QB then maybe the Spartan offense might slow down a tiny bite....There is no love lost between DLS and Pittsburg, so you can bet that DLS will come out shooting and the fans of the Pirates are hoping and supporting Pitt to rise up and give the Spartans a game or better....

D2 Friday 12-5

#1 Clayton Valley Charter 12-0 vs. #2 Concord 12-1 at DVC 7:00 P.M. .....CVC45 Concord 42....In the last meeting, the Minutemen let the Eagles jump off to a 34-14 lead which put Concord into a catchup football situation...The Minutemen defense
can't let this happen....If they can keep Miles Harrison in check and step up the defense, they can turn this game around, this has to be an all out effort by Concord...

D3 Saturday 12-6

#1 Campolindo 13-0 vs. #3 Marin Catholic 10-3.....Campolindo 31 Marin Catholic 28.....The key to the Wildcats turning this game around is their stubborn defense...they need to contain NickFadelli and the big 210 pound Adam Remotto FB, you stop the running game and they have to resort to the air..Again, its the MC defensive line that will change the game and its the Cougars who will have to find a way to outwit the Wildcats....

It looks like possible showers for Friday night, but Sat. should be good...Concord's main attack is thru the air so this could dampen the offense (Maybe)....

LOOKS LIKE THE WEATHER INFORMATION MAY BE WORTHLESS....We might get hit Friday noon with rain that could last all night...Nice thing to hear...Two good games Friday night, capped with the Saturday evening meet between Campolindo-Marin Catholic at DVC at 7:00 P.M.

I think Marin's defense will slow down CAMPO in the first half. I see a 21-14 Marin halftime lead. Macy makes his adjustments and I see CAMPO exploding in the send half for a final 42-35 game.

If there's a blow out Campo will blow out Marin and not the other way. Marin just needs to keep close to the 4th quarter than it's anybody's game.

No rain in sight so that's good for Concord.

CVC Routes Concord 33-6

CVC..... 21.....06.....06.....00.....33
Concord.....00.....06.....00.....00.....06

A Huge crowd showed up for what was thought to see another shoot out between Concord and CVC, the only problem was the Eagles defense had Daniels on the run and he never had enough time to hit passes he normally connects with. He was also picked off three times in the process...Daniels fired 36 passes and hit 14 for 210 yards, and the chief runner, Blackburn was held to 43 yards on 24 carries as the CVC defense seemed to be waiting for him..
BUT, it was the Miles Harrison road show as the guy ripped off runs of 96 yards, followed by 60 dash in the first quarter and then later in the third quarter Harrison took off on a 48 yard gallop...For all purposes, the game was over after the first quarter as nothing the Minutemen could do clicked...In the first quarter they drove down to the four yard line where the drive stalled and on the next CVC play Harrison took off on a 96 yarder.
Concord's lone TD came in the second quarter on a nine yard pass with 27 seconds left....CVC's first score was a 71 yard bomb to Estrada when the game was only less then two minutes old.

CVC thru 19 passes and rolled up 281 yards, the running game saw 318 yards on 35 carries, CVC intercepted Concord three times , never fumbled and never punted but 85 yards in penaties and had only seven first downs.
Concord thru 36 passes and hit on 14 for 210 yards, the running game never jelled as they rolled up 43 yards on 24 carries, never punted, never fumbled and had 12 first downs and 40 yards in pentalies.
Rain wise, is rained just before game time and ten never rained again, the field was wet, but it never slowed any body down....

Did not see Clayton Valley completely shutting down Concord's offense in the fashion they did tonight. Concord's offense has been unstoppable all season long, but CV completely dominated on both sides of the ball.

Its my guess that after the first meeting with Concord, CVC worked out a way to defend the Minutemen which gave Daniels almost no time to get off his deadly passing attack....Also, Blackburn had no place to go as the speedy running back was boxed in and met at the line and gained only one or two yards at a time and some times no gain at all.
As for Harrison, he got the blocking he needed that sprung him on his three long runs, but after he cleared the blocking, it was Harrison who fought his way out, breaking tackles and he was off to the races....

Campolindo gets by Marin Catholic 27-21

Campolindo.........07.....07.....13.....00.....27
Marin Catholic.....00.....14....00......07.....21

In what started out to be a one sided game early in the first quarter, as Campolindo was running and passing and every thing was working while Marin Catholic could not get started in front a big crowd tonight and the cougars struck first with 4:47 on the clock on a seven yard run in the First quarter, but the Wildcats tied the game in the second quarter as plays began to work and Peterson hit his receiver on a 41 yard pass at 10:42..four minutes later with 6:16 on the clock Steven's fired a 23 yard pass to Flowers. and the Cougars went ahead 14-7...Now the Wildcats were moving the ball and every thing was clicking and with 2:28 left in the first half, Peterson bulled his way in from nine yards out and tied the game at 14-14.
With the half coming to an end, the question for every body was who would take over in the second half and it was Campolindo as Steven's hit Petite on a 43 yard pass and it was followed up with a 30 yard run with 5:52 left in the third quarter and the cougars leading 27-14....Now the Drama begins in the fourth quarter as Gerhert scored on a five yard burst and both teams battled back and fourth until with 4:31left,Campolindo tried a FG and the Wildcats blocked it. And took over only to run into trouble with 3:29 left and the wildcats gambeled on fourth down and it paid off..But this drive ran into trouble as the Wildcats fumbled and the Cougars took over with 1:25 left and ran out the clock....

Marin Catholic ran up 14 first downs, thry 19 passes and hit eight for 119 yards, the runninga saw 34 carries for 164 yards, there five pentalies for 40 yards, there was one interception, one fumble and MC punted four times...
Campolindo thru 25 passes and hit 12 for 217 yards, the ground game saw 34 carries for 197 yards, Campol punited one time had no interceptions, no fumbles and had three pentalies for 25 yards..
For both teams, the longest run was 30 yards by the Cougars and pass wise, Campolindo had passes of 30, 23,43 and 20 as the longest while MC had passes of 23,42,47 and 17.
There were times when it looked like Campolindo was going to pull away and there were times when MC might over take the Cougars, but Campolindo is now 14-0....

D-1

DLS 35 Pittsburg 0......The Pirate defense has to hold the record for holding the Spartans to the lowest score for their season, While Pittsburg did all they could, to score and with a TD called backed, while being shut out, they did do a admiral job.

D-2

Clayton valley Charter 33 Concord 6......The eagles came prepared, learning from the last encounter with the minutemen and the defense came up strong and Concord could do nothing.

D-3

Campolindo 27 Marin catholic 21......The Cougar defense held tough, keeping the Wildcats offense opening up, it was a team effort.....

The two games that I watched saw two of the best backs doing their thing and in the Concord-CVC games, while the CVC defense was taking care of business, it was the driving force of Miles Harrison's hard running that spearheaded the Eagles scoring.....The Terror of Eagle land ripped off 280 yards on 20 carries which included runs of 96,60 and 48 yards and it was a tough Eagle line that sprung Miles, but on top of that, it was Miles own effort after breaking thru the Concord line, by breaking tackles and shaking off would be tackles that was just too much for the Minute men.

But what about Campolindo, at first the Cougars were in control of the Marin Catholic game in the early first quarter, but the Wildcats began to dig in....Now Nick Fadelli was the driving for Campo, grinding out hard yards on 26 carries on 150 yard nights work....But what made this possible was the line play of the Cougars against a rugged Wildcat defense.

Now CVC is gearing up for a second meet with Oakdale on the Eagles home field on sat. 7:30 P.M. while Campolindo meets Sutter at Acalanes High on Sat. also at 7:30 P.M..
I would have been nice to see both games played at DVC, but both CVC and Campolindo are 14-0 which gives them the home field, if that is the thinking...
