Serra-St. Ignatius

St Ignatius leads 19-4 end Q1.

SI, which made four 3s, is on a 13-0 run

SI leads Serra 25-7 with 354 left Q2.

Padres have missed 7 free throws, including 6 by McDonald.

St Ignatius leads 31-11 at halftime.

Robinson has 12 and Begovich has 8 for SI

McDonald leads Serra with 6

Just shows how much parody there is in that conference.

SI seems to be improving, and might be a dark horse if they can make the WCAL playoffs.

SI leads 31-18 with 6 mins left Q3.

Serra starting to force some turnovers with pressure

Parker McDonald with a likely dagger 3. Serra up 48-43 with 5 seconds left

Crappy shot selection, a ton of turnovers and a possibly messed up rim doomed SI. Their hopes of making CCS now in major trouble.

You can’t let your best player foul out with 5 plus minutes to go. He ran the same press break. I know that they were getting fouled, but that is the reason you pass and not dribble against the press! This would of led to easy baskets at the rim and possibly forced Chuck to call off the press. There has to be a better offense than having Robinson dribble around and take step back three. Some of the SI players don’t even look at the rim to score when they are 5’ from the rim. And don’t get me started to on ugly lazy post entry passes. They must have had 6 out of 8 stolen.
SI is just not fundamentally sound!!!

Rims had no effect on SI’s shot selection. They were just throwing shots up off the backboard. Never a jump stop, never a power move. Rob got exposed in the second half but he sure can whistle

To say Serra players were a bit over-amped to start that ballgame (with a SRO gathering shoehorned into the old Padres gym and a TV audience as well) would be a major understatement. They couldn't throw the melon in the ocean from the Pacifica fishing pier. If they shot 20 percent in the first half, it would be a miracle. And free throws? Ghastly as well. But they survived. So it's still one game separating the top four WCAL teams.

One thing in common with all 4 contending teams - solid guard play.

68-24 scoring on each basket is extremely unusual. And CityGame is a FOOL to believe Rob got exposed. Just a bunch of crap.

Actually, CityGame, you are right. I have confidential information that Marcaletti taught his players to make poor passes and take bad shots.

When your best player fouls out with 5 plus minutes to go, that is the definition of being exposed!!
Looking at the scoring on each basket and trying to attribute to a rim is ridiculous!
Good analysis!!

It's the same rim that serra scored 40 on and hit 9 three's last saturday against St. Francis. its the jungle game guys were tight, nervous.
Not sure why the SI coach didn't call a timeout during Serra's run and keeping 21 in the game with 4 fouls and that much time left is questionable as well.
Turtle love aka Mr. Kassel, don't call people names, didn't that get you fired from burlingame. lol

Doesn't that now put you in the same category, possibly lower category for playing off it.

I dont know what you guys are asking SI to do. Nothing new is here. Their offense is either Robinson or Begovich. When Begovich fouled out, Serra keyed in on Robinson. The other SI players dont know what to do with the basketball when they get it so of course their shots are going to be not high percentage. Still, if you blow a lead like that with your season virtually online the line then your team probably doesnt deserve to make the playoffs.

And people just stop commenting on lack of fans in the stands. You're there to watch the game not people in the stands.

Question: Do you believe in the concept of home-court advantage?

Question: Do you believe in the concept of home-court advantage?
  1. Case in point: Packed house - Serra down 20 points at the half - Padres make some stops, start hitting shots, feeds off the huge home crowd = Game.
  2. SHC - leads after 1. keeping the game close throughout, Irish hitting their shots, Crusaders not so hot; more Riordan fans than Irish, crickets from the home side, Riordan regains leads and pulls off the win.
