That’s a great question. Based on how it is written it would seem to be Lincoln-Stockton.Topic: SJS's One At-Large Birth
So how or who will the SJS Commissioners decide on the one at-large birth into the NorCal playoffs.
According to the Sac-Joaquin Section 2024 Basketball Format Rules it says: "The last spot will be filled by 1 at-large birth according to the MaxPreps rankings."
What's interesting though is this:
Of the schools that did NOT reach the semi-finals of the SJS playoffs, Lincoln-Stockton has the highest MaxPreps rating as of 2/19/2024 at 22.54. BUT Lincoln-Stockton lost at home in the 1st round of the section playoffs to #12 seed Davis. Lincoln-Stockton was the #5 seed.
Right behind Lincoln-Stockton in the latest MaxPreps rankings is Antelope, who lost in the 2nd round to Oak Ridge (at Oak Ridge), by a score of 56-57. Antelope's MaxPreps rating is 22.43, and was a #6 seed.
So who gets into the NorCal playoffs birth--Lincoln or Antelope? Anybody know?

Is this D1 only?Just got it confirmed it is antelope. Rule includes you have to win your first round game
I think the rule applies for all divisions. So you can't be one and done in sections and make NorCals. At least how I understood itIs this D1 only?

If Streak is correct.Just got it confirmed it is antelope. Rule includes you have to win your first round game
No. The one at-large birth is for the entire SJS, which includes all divisions. Just one berth. The SJS is allotted 23 slots to advance to the NorCals. Divisions 1-5 bring both finalists and semi-finalists teams (5 divisions x 4 teams = 20). Only the finalists in Division 6 advance to the NorCals (2 teams). That leaves only one more slot--the one at-large berth. Is this D1 only?
