Doug,
Okowi breaks the all-time rebound record for a Div. II state final and she ends up a board away from tying the record, regardless of division, set first by the great Terri Mann of Point Loma 32 years ago.

Doug,
Okowi has shattered the all-time rebound record for a Div. II state final and she is two boards away from the record regardless of division.

Yep, she broke the previous Division IV record of 21 rebounds. Falls short of the all time record of 25 (Erin Beuscher of Rincon Valley Christian and Haley Van Dyke of Campolindo)

Oakland Tech wins the D4 state title with a 55-27 win over Northview.

Lowest points allowed total in girls D4 history.

Tech returns 4 starters next year

Even a bit further back, all-everything post Terri Mann of Point Loma (high school girls’ version of the great Moses Malone) had 25 in the ‘87 finals.

I remember seeing her play. Right up there in high school with Lisa Leslie and Tina Thompson as the best prep posts I've seen play in person. Too bad knee injuries in college derailed her career. Point Loma definitely had "Mann power" back then.

Great to see two friends, LeRoy Hurt and Orlando Gray, bring it home for the OAL! More than just coaches, both are wonderful mentors to their kids.

So, in the grand scheme of things in NorCal, does the OAL double-W in Sacto mean that it's the best public school girls' league north of Clovis?

there needs to be a floor for how low a D1 team can be placed

A possible solution is to do Open and then place everyone in their section division. From there, look for the outliers that need to be shifted and make the corresponding moves. There are really only a few schools that need to be moved to achieve some balance.

Menlo has one senior, one junior and 13 underclassmen.

Game could come down to how they handle Rolling Hills Prep big Clarice Akunwafo

Menlo off to a good start up 13-6 with 302 left Q1.

They have been outrebounded 10-5 but are 3-for-8 from three point range

Menlo leads 19-9 late Q1. The Knights are 5-for-10 on 3s led by Georgia Paye and Maeia Makoni

Menlo leads 28-15 with 330 left in the half.

Menlo is +15 from the three point line.

Really impressed with Avery Lee. 6 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals

Big three at the end of the half for RHP, which trails Menlo 34-25 at the half. The game could have gotten away from RHP in Q2

22 of Menlo's 30 shots are three pointers

Menlo's lead is down to 5 at 39-34 with 359 left Q3

RHP closing the three point gap.

Interesting switch for RHP. They aren't even looking to try and go inside. They are turning this into a shooting contest.

Menlo leads 46-41 with 131 left Q3

Menlo lead 51-46 end Q3.

Teams have combined to shoot 60 three pointers

Menlo leads 57-50 with 451 left Q4

Avery Lee is approaching a triple double

Menlo leads 61-54 with 239 left Q4.

Have never felt Menlo would lose, but just can't put RHP all the way away.

Sharon Nejad has played a rover type role on defense with success

Menlo up 67-61 with 20 seconds left. RHP just can't get over the hump after being down 18.

Menlo has made key plays to stop a few runs

Tech is not a D1 school. The oakland public schools have nowhere near the population as people perceive. Half the kids arent eligible, dont have the ability for various reasons or dont speak enough english to play... as well as they flee to surrounding schools for the better education and the safety.

Ragged start with both teams trying to play fast.

4-4 tie with 423 left Q1

SC is 3-for-5 on threes (all makes by Vanessa De Jesus). Pinewood is 1-for-6
