No. 9 Vacaville hasn’t wasted any opportunities to pick up quality wins with a 7-3 victory over No. 11 Acalanes on Tuesday before beating No. 15 Davis 4-2 on Wednesday.

The Blue Devils grabbed the early lead with runs in the bottom of the first and second innings. Junior Reed Hessl led off for Davis with a double and scored on a RBI single from junior Ryan Holgate (California). It as a similar formula in the second inning when senior Max Thompson had a single followed by a RBI double from junior Jack Painter in support of junior left-handed pitcher Tyler Mortensen (UC Santa Barbara).

In the top of the third inning, junior Ty Moak and senior Dylan Lamb (the starting pitcher) had singles from the bottom of the order. After they advanced to second and third with two outs, senior Troy Claunch (Oregon State) was intentionally walked in front of senior Shea Kramer, who delivered with a two RBI double. Kramer leads the team with three RBI.

The Bulldogs added a run in the fourth when senior Jon Donaldson walked, stole a base and scored on a wild pitch. They added the final run in the sixth inning on a RBI single from Jordan Giggery, who threw the final three innings for Vacaville.

Lamb picked up the win going four innings of five hit ball with two strikeouts. Mortensen went 3.2 innings for the Blue Devils in giving up four hits and three walks with two strikeouts.

Other pitchers to pick up wins this year for Vacaville are TJ Smith and Cole Elvis.
