The WCAL is well represented in the State finals for Girls Volleyball.

CIF Open Division
Mitty beat St. Francis in the NorCal Regional finals to take on SoCal's Mater Dai for the state final. St. Ignatius and fellow CCS SHP lost in the first round, albeit SI was taken out by WCAL foe SF.

CIF D1 Division
Valley Christian beat Rocklin in the NorCal Regional finals to take on SoCal's Palos Verdes for the state final. There were no other WCAL teams in this division but fellow CCS teams Burlingame, Palo Alto, Menlo-Atherton and Menlo School were included.

CIF D2 Division
Sacred Heart Cathedral beat Clovis North in Regional Finals to take on SoCal's Campbell Hall for the state final. SHC was the only WCAL school representing in Division D2 but fellow CCS schools Aragon, Salinas, and Los Gatos were included.

CIF D3 Division
WCAL had no member schools in D3 but CCS schools Harbor, Carmel, and Mountain View were in this division. Ripon Christian will be representing the NorCal side against SoCal's Redwood.

CIF D4 Division
There were no WCAL teams and only one CCS team (Woodside) representing in this division. NorCal representative Marin Academy will play SoCal's Glendale for the state final D4 championship.

CIF D5 Division
There were no WCAL or other CCS teams representing in this division. NorCal's Crystal Springs Uplands will be competing with SoCal's Oceanside for the state title.

D4 was won by Glendale 3-1 over Marin Academy. SoCal wins this division

D3 Ripon Christian sweeps 3-0 Redwood. Another win for NorCal. NorCal 3 SoCal 1

D2 Campbell Hall sweeps 3-0 our NorCal Sacred Heart Cathedral. SoCal wins this one - overall NorCal 3 Socal 2

The announcers for CIF NFHS Network try but they are very much leaning toward SoCal teams. I am making this statement after watching 5 playoff games. Even with the Ripon Christian strong sweep, they struggle giving proper attention to the winning NorCal side. And with this Campbell Hall / Sacred Heart Cathedral game, they just were gushing with their admiration for the strength of CH.

Oh, and they couldn't even remember the SHC's proper name. Sometimes they called them Sacred Heart Prep and one time they even stated the name was too long to announce correctly. They did do alright when calling them the Fightin' Irish. I guess they need short words like Campbell Hall.

Mater Dei wins 3-1 over Mitty. The North / South ties 3 each. Valley Christian was the only winner from WCAL.

The MD team was something else. They had 2 players 6 ft plus tall and one player 6'4". They continually blocked successfully at the net.

These NFHS Network announcers sponsored by CIF were HORRIBLE. One announcer kept calling Mitty Archbishop Mindy even after repeatedly hearing his cohort pronouncing it correctly. And then in summary for the 6 games, they recapped that Palos Verdes won over VC. Just Horrible!!!!

Now we could hear the court announcer in the background. That person was spot on with names and perfectly unbiased and totally fair. NFHS Network would been served better by just micing him and getting their announcers out of the way.

They were homers all the way. I had to turn the sound off. One of them even said "Cathedral Prep".

At least the Irish go home as NorCal D-II Champs. They've had some 30-win teams that didn't bring home any hardware. They'll be better next season.
