1. De La Salle (5-0)
Jaden Jefferson had a 45 yard touchdown run and had a 99 yard kick return at the end of the first half to give the Spartans some momentum in a 35-14 win over El Cerrito. Quarterback Toa Faavae had two rushing touchdowns and Dominic Kelley also had a rushing score in the win. The Spartans are off this week before their trip to England.
2. Folsom (4-1)
Folsom had an unexpected off week after Davis forfeited its matchup with the Bulldogs. Folsom, which still hosted homecoming festivities during the week, will travel up the hill to Oak Ridge after the Trojans knocked off Granite Bay.
3. Pittsburg (3-1)
The Pirates were off this past week following its trip to Southern California to take on St. John Bosco. They have another challenge set for Friday as they host Los Gatos in a matchup of Top 10 teams. Pittsburg has scored at least 41 points in each win this season.
4. San Ramon Valley (5-0)
In a 48-0 win over Hayward, Rhett Thompson went 8-for-15 for 252 yards and three touchdowns with Owen Scott accounting for a team best 121 receiving yards. Kaleb Pleis had two sacks and a fumble recovery and Kayvon Foreman had an interception. In the final non-league game, San Ramon Valley will travel to Granada.
5. St. Ignatius (3-1)
The Wildcats have won three in a row after coming back from a 13 point fourth quarter deficit to beat Serra 21-20. Jarious Hogan had 119 rushing yards and had two receiving scores for the Wildcats. Chase Wiley had two interceptions for the Wildcats, which forced three turnovers in the win. They will host Riordan on Friday with a win giving them an early edge in the league race.
6. Serra (1-3)
Serra led St. Ignatius 20-7 in the second half, but lost 21-20 for its first WCAL loss since the 2021 season. Malakai Taufoou had an interception return for a score and Jonah Alapati and Chris Yoon had rushing touchdowns in the loss. The Padres will host Sacred Heart Cathedral on Saturday with road games upcoming against St. Francis and Riordan.
7. Rocklin (4-1)
Rafi Merino rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns and Derek Keeley had 141 rushing yards and two scores in a 52-14 win over Jesuit. Reeve Slone found Mikey Cunningham for a score and Alex Dunham had a team high 13 tackles. The Thunder play Whitney this week in the Quarry Bowl.
8. St. Francis-Mountain View (3-1)
Kingston Keanaaina returned two punts for touchdowns and Aaron Knapp found Grant Righellis and Perrion Williams for touchdowns in a 48-7 win over Bellarmine. In their three wins, the Lancers haven’t given up more than 14 points. This week, St. Francis will travel to Mitty.
9. Los Gatos (4-0)
The Wildcats were off this week ahead of this week’s big matchup against Pittsburg. It is the first of three straight road games with Menlo-Atherton and Sacred Heart Prep to follow. Los Gatos is giving up 10 points per game.
10. Grant (3-3)
The Pacers have played a difficult schedule and it continued last week in a 49-19 loss to Lincoln-San Diego. Koby Shabazz had 94 yards and a touchdown catch, but the Pacers couldn’t overcome five turnovers. Jeremiah Tuiileila and Malachi Simonton each had two sacks in the loss. Next up is Kennedy-Sacramento.
11. St. Mary’s-Stockton (3-2)
Jaden Galvan connected with Kenneth Moore III for two touchdowns and Diego Hernandez rushed for two touchdowns in a 56-21 win over Bishop Amat. Osani Gayles ran for a touchdown, returned an interception for a score and scored on a kickoff return. The Rams host Lodi this week.
12. Riordan (2-2)
In a 63-34 win over Sacred Heart Cathedral, Michael Mitchell Jr. passed for 276 yards and three touchdowns and running backs Jeremiah Jones and Adonyae Brown each rushed for more than 100 yards and three touchdowns. The defense also registered seven sacks. They travel to St. Ignatius this week as it looks to get back into the Top 10.
13. Soquel (2-2)
Soquel is coming off a bye for this week’s game against Palma. The Knights are averaging around 300 yards per game and have allowed 10 points per game. Their losses have come to Top 10 teams Los Gatos and San Ramon Valley.
14. McClymonds (1-3)
The Warriors were off this week after a difficult schedule to start the season with losses to Riordan, St. Francis and San Ramon Valley. This week, they will take on Berean Christian.
15. Cardinal Newman (5-0)
The Cardinals beat Pleasant Valley 37-10 to complete an undefeated non-league schedule. Tino Retamoza threw a touchdown pass to Zion Cargill and the team ran for more than 200 yards. Jimmy McKenzie had two sacks as part of a five sack effort. They are off this week before traveling to Windsor on October 11.
16. El Cerrito (4-1)
Quarterback Jonathan Craft and running back Joezon Broussard, who had a team high 92 rushing yards, each had a rushing touchdown in a 35-14 loss to De La Salle. Gary Youngblood had an interception on defense. The Gauchos, which have posted two shutouts this year, is off this week before playing St. Mary’s-Berkeley on October 12.
17. Downey (5-0)
Downey was off this week and will start league action this week against Pitman. The Knights have scored at least 34 points in each game this season.
18. Marin Catholic (3-2)
After a rough start, Marin Catholic has won three in a row after beating Edison-Stockton 17-7. Edison had run for more than 100 yards in each game, but Marin Catholic held them to 21 yards. Marin Catholic also has an earlier win over Manteca to help jump into the rankings. The Wildcats are off until October 10 when they travel to San Marin.
19. Manteca (4-1)
After years of heartbreak against Central Catholic, Manteca was able to beat the Raiders 31-14 to move into the Top 20. Maava Tialavea ran for 153 yards and a touchdown as the Buffaloes turned to other runners with an injury to Nikko Juarez, according to the Manteca Bulletin. This week, Manteca will head across town to Sierra.
20. Oak Ridge (2-3)
The Trojans are back in the rankings after beating Granite Bay 30-17 to move to 2-0 in the SFL. Jasen Womack had two touchdown runs and a touchdown catch and added an interception on defense. Oak Ridge will host Folsom this week after having close calls with the Bulldogs in recent years.
