Wall-to-Wall HOOPS at Dublin!

Have arrived, ready to spend the day doing my favorite thing, checkin’ out some roundball action…

First game today features Granada vs. Vanden.

Vanden comes off a tough loss last night to an extremely inspired O’Dowd, who desperately wanted to open up their new gym with a win.

Granada thrashed Northgate in what I assume was a foundation game though it shows up as a regular game on MaxPreps. Looking forward to seeing their St. Mary’s-bound big, Andrew McKeever and Salesian transfer Tyler Harris.

Announcer

I am watching the NFHS Livestream of Bells vs SI. It is being announced by an apparently British guy, whose name I don't know. He also did the Serra vs Mitty game title game and he knows the teams and the game pretty well. It's nice having an announcer because many regular-season games don't.

SFL Bias?

As we approach Section Semi-Finals in the SJS, the talk of calpreps.com and an SFL bias has come up. Additionally, a team that went 1-4 in the SFL made the playoffs. I did a little digging.

All five SFL teams not only won playoff games, but all five are in the section semi-finals. Only two of the five are projected to lose in the semi-finals. And to be fair, one of those predicted losses is to another SFL team, so really, one team (Manteca is projected to win over Rocklin, which, in and of itself, is up for conversation/debate). IMO, it's mighty impressive. Furthermore, the aforementioned 1-4 league team beat a previously undefeated team on the road in the second round.

Breaking things down around the section, the Valley Oak League is in second place with three teams in the section semi-finals (Kimball in D IV, Manteca in D II, and Central Catholic in D I), and tied with the VOL is the Southern (Orestimba D VI, Le Grand D VII and Ripon Christian D VII). Capital, Mother Lode, and Trans Valley have 2 team each in the semi-finals, and a handful of other leagues have one. And six of the 24 leagues in the SJS (which includes "Freelance") do not have a team in the semi-finals. Having five teams in the semi-finals, all in D I or D II, is impressive, IMO.

Then I took a peek at the only SFL team to not make the playoffs. That team beat a team with a playoff win, in D II, another team in the D III semi-finals, and a third team that is in the semi-finals in D II in the northern section.

Whether there is a calpreps.com bias for the SFL or not, such a bias seems warranted, for this year at least. What are your thoughts?

Does Oak Ridge have ANY shot to beat Mighty Folsom in the SJS Final?

Last game against these two was in El Dorado Hills and a complete laugher.

Does Oak Ridge has ANY shot at beating Folsom or even keeping the game close? I say no. I say it's over in the 2nd quarter.

Mack threw for over 500 yards and 8 TDs against a MUCH better CC team. One thing to look out for- The Dawgs are banged up. Flores is injured and sat out most of the game against CC. Onterio Smith Jr. was ejected in the CC game for two personal fouls and will not be eligible to play against OR.

Serra 41, vs. Mitty, 14

By all rights, Friday's CCS Division I finale should not be close. Serra, No.1 in NorCal, has already defeated Mitty during the WCAL season, 35-7. Like their last nine games for the Padres, the Mitty contest was one-sided and non-competitive throughout most of the evening. But Mitty, under the leadership of Coach Danny Sullivan, has had a strong season overall. The Monarchs, 1-9 last year, are one of the surprise teams in the Bay Area. They are a true feel-good story. Sullivan and his staff, along with his players of course, have turned around a dormant program in just one season. A laudable feat in anyone's book. Essentially, they have risen from the dead. No matter what happens Friday at San Jose City College (a nice home game for the Monarchs, by the way), Mitty deserves major kudos for what it has accomplished in 2022. And, who knows, maybe there will be some surprises in store for the several thousand witnesses at SJCC.

Austin Mack of Folsom is the best QB in the state of CA

I wanted to start this thread because this kid has barely got any mentions on this forum all year. I wanted to see how it played out, and it has been interesting. Some posters at the beginning of the season even proclaimed that he was "overrated," and "not good at all."

He just threw for over 500 yards and 8 TDs against one of NorCals best defensive teams, in a playoff game!

Current offers:
Stanford
Arizona
Cal
Colorado
Colorado State
Nevada
Oregon
Oregon Stte
San Jose State
Texas
Washington
Washington State
San Jose State

***He is only a JUNIOR!!!! He is 6'6 and has an NFL arm. His mobilty is getting better by the week. Can't wait to see him tear about Oak Ridge in a few days!

Inderkum vs Weston Ranch

With the season finally here, and in front of a packed house. Inderkum and Weston Ranch faced off at the 2nd annual Fortune High School Showcase.

Inderkum starts the game with tremendous team defense being lead by Jermaine Haliburton, and with Zac Chan knocking down some early shots Inderkum jumped out to an early 12 -2 lead. Inderkums Sr guard Jalen Glenn picking up two early fouls and having to sit the reminder of the first quarter, Weston Ranch was able to find a rhythm and cut into the lead ending the first quarter 18-16 Inderkum. Coach Wilson found a bright spot in his young 6’6” sophomore Taylen Goodman who came into the game with great energy and making plays on both ends of the floor. Weston Ranch continued to battle the entire second quarter with Khrisian Holmes (20pts)and Elijah Mobley (16pts) scoring from multiple spots on the floor but still found themselves down at halftime but still in striking distance.

The game continued to go back and forth with both teams fighting hard but Inderkum was just to much to handle. In the second half Jalen Glenn started to get going and showed why his one of the top players NorCal has to offer. He ended the game with over 20pts and put the game out of reach with a nice dunk off of the assist by pg Haliburton.

Inderkum looks ready for the season and should be around in late March.
Final score 94-66
