More bad PAL news

It's been a difficult off-season for teams in the PAL. Its three best returning post players have all reportedly transferred to private schools. The departure of Burlingame's 5-10 senior Ava Urich to Pinewood has been noted previously. Now, her running mate, 6-1 Elena Weisman, a multi-skilled junior F-C, has moved south to Mitty. Sequoia has taken a hit as well. Its standout 6-1 sophomore F-C Nehelani Stores has left that Redwood City campus as well. Her landing spot has been mentioned as either Woodside Priory or St. Francis. All three players are Division I college prospects. Their combined loss will reduce the PAL's post-season impact in a huge way. Burlingame, in particular, had been expected to field its best team in years in 2022-23. Not so now. The rich just keep getting richer. It's a grim CCS story that shows few signs of changing anytime soon. For some perspective, a PAL girls' hoops unit has not played for a NorCal championship (or a CIF state title) in any division, equity-based or not, since 1988.

Happy Picking!

Folsom first month

The mighty Folsom Bulldogs (current kings of NorCal after beating DLS last year AT DLS), start with a very tough 4 weeks.

In the first 4 weeks of the season, the mighty Dawgs of the beautiful City of Folsom, take on Serra, Pitt, and DLS. The Pitt and DLS games are on the road.

Not a bad start for the champs! They return a ton of talent and look to hang another banner. Word is Saben and Sweeney were in town again! :)

Is football not a great outlet for life, meritocracy, young men?

Yes
No

I do wonder these days if football is now considered a relic, barbaric behavior of the past when machismo was misguided. Perhaps the argument goes , aggression despite the cohesive one goal, promotes the worse in men.

This time/world we live in demands communion, bow down and accept testosterone is the disease, but why? Subsequent behavior models in young men and historic evidence-based science now is considered blasphemy?

So many positive stories of young men succeeding is now considered by some toxic masculinity. Where did we go as a society?

My wish to all young men, and their families this Season is to realize life is hard, being a man is hard, but being a man is okay, being a warrior is ok, future provider is okay. Whoever you are, whoever means something to you, your “inspiration”, be brave, be you, support your brothers and kick ass This season.
