A CA CIF Tournament Similar to the NCAA Tournament

Alright guys......we argue a lot on here about how the CIF isn't doing the best job making a "fair" tournament.

The "wrong teams" from Norcal ended up winning State Titles according to many posters on here.

So instead of argue, I decided lets fix this. or at least float some ideas. This is my first idea.

Ok so Idea 1 is probably the most expensive, but also possible. A Statewide Tournament:

Top 64 from Norcal
Top 64 from Socal

Similar to NCAA's have pre-decided sites to host the games.

Norcal Potential Host Sites: Spanos Center, Kezar Pavilion, Oakland Arena, USF War Memorial Gym, CCSF Gym, St. Mary's The Pavilion, Fresno St. Save Mart Center, Sac St. The Nest....etc.
Socal Potential Host Sites: LMU Burns Center, Pepperdine Firestone Field House, LBSU Pyramid....etc.

What would some of the first round matchups looked like on the Norcal side?

Campo vs. Mountain View (The Pavilion Moraga, CA)
Clovis West vs. Carlmont (Save Mart Center Fresno, CA)
Modesto Christian vs. Urban (Spanos Center Stockton, CA)
De La Salle vs. Lowell (SF) (Oakland Arena, Oakland, CA)
Riordan vs. Justin- Siena (CCSF San Francisco, CA)
Sheldon vs. Liberty Ranch (The Nest Sacramento, CA)
Sacred Heart Prep vs. University Prep (Redding) (Leavey Center, Santa Clara, CA)

I will conclude by saying the other teams could be in an NIT-like tournament where the Championship gets played before the State Title Game

As Marc says....here's wishing you great hoops even in May!

2023 Player Spotlight: Israel Polk WR/DB Pittsburg

Israel Polk (6-foot-1, 170 pounds) is one of the many talented WR/DBs returning for the Pirates. On offense, he is dangerous catching the ball short and making plays in the open field. Defensively, he plays well on the outside and uses his receiver skills to play the ball well in the air and tracking routes. He has offers from Yale, San Diego State, Air Force, Nevada, Army, Columbia, Washington State, Utah State, UNLV and Colorado State.

De La Salle wins a crazy game!

San Ramon Valley led 6-1 going into the bottom of the 5th and 7-3 going into the bottom of the seventh when De La Salle scored four runs to force extra innings. Both teams scored two runs in the eighth inning and the Spartans added the winning run in the top of the 9th for a 10-9 win.

Anthony Martinez had a home run and three RBI for De La Salle. Donny Crook went 2-for-5 with three RBI for the Wolves.

De La Salle moves on in the EBAL tournament and will host Foothill-Pleasanton, which beat California 3-0 on Wednesday.

Marcus Bagley?

Anyone (heat?) know the status of this young man? Seems odd that he has been hurt for almost two years at Arizona State. Obviously the family has always handled things uniquely to say the least. His size, athletic ability and shooting range really elevated him in the national rankings his senior year and he was even on some mock drafts last year but he is a ghost now.

Serious Question from a SoCal Football Fan

I've had this question now for years which I've been asking on other forums, chatrooms, and the YouTube comment section for CLA Sports and UTR. What's going on with NorCal football compared to down south? It can't just be the population size because NY and IL both have a comparable population as SoCal. Is it because of the demographics in San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and parts of East Bay like Berkeley where parents don't want their kids playing contact sports? And would rather have them play e-sports or non contact sports like rowing or tennis? It's gotten to the point that multiple skill players are leaving the Bay Area to play football in the Trinity league now.

Part of my theory has to do with the nature of football itself. It's a working class sport and SoCal has an abundance of working class areas such as the Inland Empire, South LA, and of course inner city LA. All three geographic areas are major feeders into the Trinity League/Cen10/ Serra Gardena and the up and coming schools like Alemany and Sierra Canyon. I've been to Silicon Valley, SF, and Moraga/Walnut Creek and those places are the polar opposite of working class. They generally have those extreme liberal minded families that don't want the kids to play sports or at least try to discourage them. In contrast to the areas I listed in SoCal, if it wasn't for sports, they wouldn't be going to college. It's their way out, where in contrast the Silicon Valley families don't prioritize contact sports since they're just focused on getting their children into ivy leagues or expensive private schools. This all leads to a major dilution and gulf in talent, all on top of private schools not allowing recruiting, which I personally think is perposterous. No one likes to lose and the weak admin needs to take the leash off these coaches and let them compete.

Just my 2 cents.

Looking for Sports App advice

Recently while participating on the "Chat" feature of the sports App 'the Score' my comments got me benched (?) amd then permanently banned from Chat participating for Unsportsmanlike Conduct by not following Community standards. My posting sin following the Brooks slam & sidelining of GP-2 in Game 2 was using the terms "Memph-ass Girlzies" 2x's. When I appealed my benching in a series of emails, citing the continued usage of full on F-bombs and other descriptive terminology far more excessive than mine by other posters...............crickets.
I know I'm no choir boy when it comes to posting but I do enjoy the give & take of fan fired sports chat. Even the Streaky - 1 has sat me in the corner a couple x's (guilty as charged your honor) .
So if anybody has a sports App they really like 1) for all college and pro sports scores updates, 2)statistical game/score breakdowms, 3) sports news updates AND 4) a discussion board feature. I would appreciate any recomendations.
