Joc Pederson

So the rookie from Palo Altos is now 2nd in HR's in the NL. They are saying the his homers are averaging farther then anyone else in the Major Leagues.

I understand that he played for NorCal baseball, I'm wondering if Rob would have predicted anything like the success that he's had so far. For that matter, Titanscoach, what say you?

West Coast Jamboree update: Nearly half full

We're at 53 teams right now, and we're only taking 128 (it's hard enough to deal with that many teams; any more than that, and we start making mistakes at the administrative level). Usually, we have around 30 applications in hand at this point, so it may be that just like last year, we wind up turning teams away.

So if you want to play in the Jamboree (Dec. 28-30), I think it would be a good idea to get an application in sooner rather than later. You can wait and most likely still get in, but if you want to make sure ...

Fists Thrown in Dugout Incident

Parents, Fans and Players watching from the stands at H.M.B. yesterday/Tuesday must have thought they were observing a prank - but an actual player and a coach of S.S.F.’s Varsity baseball team - were fighting in the dugout.

Another player was trying to break it up but punches were thrown and landed by both the player and the coach. They were separated at one point and the coach went back at the player. The coach had him in a headlock and eventually the two were separated.

Everyone at one point were yelling at the umpire to stop it but he did not. Eventually the umpire kicked the coach out. Some say this was the most ridiculous thing they had ever seen during a HS baseball game and the Head Coach was seen on his cell phone but nothing more in the way of leadership from head coach JV.

The actual game ended via forfeit when the S.S.F. Varsity roster of only 9 players was reduced to 8 because a S.S.F. player was ejected from the game.
