NCS needs to change

I sit here writing this, about as mad and sick as I have ever been before.

Today the NCS decided to exclude my alma mater, Stuart Hall, from the D4 Bracket. On a technicality.

The defending state Champions, who played a challenging schedule this year, got shafted. There is no other way to put it.

When a team that is 5-20, and 0-13 in league makes it over you. And a 4 seed is 12-16 and 7-9 in league.

Am I saying another team should have been left out instead? No. But why not have us face Ygnacio Valley instead of giving a 3 seed a bye?

Good luck to everyones teams this year.

Dave Jackson, founder of WCJ, has passed

Very sad news. Dave has been battling health problems for several years, and we all knew the end was very near.

A wonderful person, and the driving force behind what has become the biggest high school tournament in the country. It started at his kitchen table, and with his unrelenting drive and sunny personality, he created an enduring legacy. More important, his positivity and upbeat outlook will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Rest in peace, my friend ...

Hangin’ With The Cougars

This should surprise nobody…

I am at Campo, watching the Cougs play Acalanes.

Yeah, yeah, I know…. “What about the EBAL tourney championship?”

Well, that’s gonna hafta wait til I get home… and then wait some more while I watch the St. Mary’s game…

Still working on that secret formula that can put me in, like, eight gyms at once…. I’ve run into a few snags, such as the big one, impossibility…

Anyway, the Cougs frosh lead Aca 23-17 at the half.

SFL Update

No real surprise here at the top with Folsom leading the way at 2-0 and 16-1 overall. I’m not sure Folsom will be challenged by anybody this year in league. Folsom does have a tough game against a good Jesuit marauder team Saturday at Sheldon. My sources tell me Andrej will not be playing for Jesuit. (Ankle) If folsom does lose it will likely be tonight as 2-0 Whitney (14-5 overall) comes to Folsom. Whitney throws a ton of guys at you and now has 6”8 transfer from oakmont. (Lamb)

Del Oro (0-2) travels to oak ridge (1-1) which is a toss up. I can’t imagine DO going 0-3 and OR is pretty average so I’m going with the pinnick led eagles.

Granite Bay (1-1) plays Rocklin (0-2) in other matchup. Another tossup but I like rocklin in a nail biter.

Not much separates the rest of pack.(after Folsom)
