Winner will face off this weekend against the winner of the Alameda/Las Lomas game.

CCS and NCS-All open teams advance to Norcals, plus the two finalists in D1-5? or do the semi-finalist make it as well?

SJS- No open, so the final four of D 1-5 make it to Norcals? If one of those teams gets pulled into the Norcal Open then a team like Folsom can still get in?

Found the gym after a bit of walking, should be worth the effort…

Terrific old fieldhouse-style gym, nice almost-new floor, with a seat just for me 3 rows behind the scorers’ table.

M-A is ranked #5 in the CCS with a 21-4 record.
Riordan is ranked #2, with a 19-6 record while facing a markedly tougher schedule than M-A’s.

These two faced each other back in December, with Riordan coming out on top by 13. Of course, a lot has happened since then…. I understand it was the last game that King Jisanni-While (sp???). played for the Crusaders. It has seemed like Riordan jelled more after King left, but who knows?

I have Salesian and SRV winning the semi's and Salesian winning the final. Should be great games.

NCS D1

Monte Vista over San Leandro: Mustangs stay hot and reach the finals. MV is 14-3 in its last 17 games with the three losses coming to San Ramon Valley.

Granada over Logan: Logan won the regular season meeting 67-58. I'll say the Matadors turn the tables in the playoffs. Logan's last three wins have been by a combined 10 points.

NCS D3

Marin Catholic over Eureka: Marin Catholic makes the finals as the most complete team in the braket.

Pinole Valley over San Marin: Pinole Valley has been tested with eight of its nine losses to Top 20 teams. Should be some good guard matchups in this one

NCS D5

Upper Lake over Mt. Diablo: Upper Lake has won 20 in a row coming into this one agianst Mt. Diablo, which knocked off top seed Berean Christian.

San Domenico over University: University has three wins over San Domenico in holding them to less than 40 points in each game. I'll go with San Domenico to turn the tide in matchup #4

The Nor Cal Spring Showcase will be held Saturday May 13 at Chabot College in Hayward from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm. Open to any high school level team (AAU or regular high school). $260 for a team. Folsom over McClatchy: I think this Folsom team is the best one out of Sacramento in at least a decade and they keep rolling.

St. Mary's over Antelope: St. Mary's won this matchup at the WCJ and seem to be playing better by the week.

Christian Brothers over Woodcreek: CBS is too much in this one led by league MVP Jada Hunter.

Whitney over Vista del Lago: One of the tougher picks for tonight, but I like the way Whitney has played recently so I will go with a mild upset.

Vanden over Kimball: Vanden is a couple of levels above anyone else in this division.

Lincoln over East Union: Another good matchup. Lincoln is led by senior Katie Leeth and Maya Hodge. Taylor Snaer is a standout for East Union

Colfax over Marysville: Colfax swept the regular season series and adds a third win tonight

Riverbank over Escalon: Riverbank ends Escalon's section run as a 10 seed. Riverbank has won 11 in a row

For many years, these two were in the old 8-team DVAL, played a home-and-home every year…

Anyway, CVC is 24-4, the top seed in NCS Division 1, and Pitt is 17-11 and came into the bracket seeded #12.

Pitt pulled off a first-round upset of Berkeley, then beat #13 seed James Logan at home.

CVC beat Mt. Eden and San Leandro to make it here.

Pitt has a 6’8” C named Jeremiah Collins…. Haven’t seen him play myself…. He’ll be interesting to see…. The stats at MaxPreps are incomplete, only having points, no other stats…. Would like to see what he’s been doing on the boards.

Half SMS 23 Antelope 21

The only way Sacred Heart prep advances is beating Riordan and SH beating MA. Riordan needs to beat SHP and MA to beat SH to move on. A Riordan win and a SH win means a 3 way tie and SH advances. Is that correct?

Rashada has ended his recruitment and is headed to Arizona State.

My drive will be much shorter Tuesday as I go to the Pittsburg @ CVC game... That trip is all of 1.2 miles for me...

Mitty 93 Crystal 30. Morgan Cheli's return makes an already unstoppable juggernaut much much better. She had 22 pts 8 rebounds and only played half the game. Crystal has no one over 5'9. Mitty has 10 players over 6 feet. This won't be Mitty's only romp. Suspect better things ahead for Crystal.

Branham 46 Los Gatos 43. Los Gatos was missing its leading scorer and rebounder, Nicole Steiner. Mercury News says she is off at a volleyball tourney. Without her, they couldn't generate enough offense against Branham's zone, shooting less than 30% for the game. Alli Von Borloeven had 13 to lead Branham.

Pinewood 67 St Ignatius 41. Pinewood is peaking at the right time and had an easy time of it from the get go. It hit 12 of 26 three pointers and got Ava Uhrich's usual dominance (17 pts, 13 rbs) on the inside.

Palo Alto 68 SHC 51. Definitely the biggest surprise of the day. But maybe it shouldn't have been. Paly knocked off SHC in last year's open as well. Sr. Itzel Torres had a career game with 22pts 11 boards. Vienne Sheng hit for 19, including 5 threes. And Kaella Peters added 16. Paly's win throws their pool wide open, with their game against Pinewood on Monday taking on added importance
