Any word if Clayton will be in Division 1 for 2015 playoffs? Or are they going to be "under" the Division 1 enrollment for one more year? Someone stated before they had to stay under 2000 students to maintain Charter status.

Need to add Alhambra to the newly combined DFAL/DVAL to make for an 11 team super-league.

I like adding Northgate and Concord to the DFAL but not Berean Christian, YV and Mt. Diablo - seems like too much of a competitive imbalance (out of equilibrium) with the mainstays (aka Campo, LL, Miramonte and Acalanes). Thoughts?

The super league DFAL should be broken up like the Valley league...with no preseason tune up games, you have to be 100% starting with game one...Tune up games (preseason games) are good tests and bug clearing.
As for DLS, I don't think any of the other teams want them in their league, but you can never tell...and Clayton Valley won't be the power house like the 2014 season...Running backs like Harrison don't by very often, so we will see just how strong the Eagle will be come next season...

I hear you Bluedog. But what is the real goal here? Livermore and DV in the same league as DLS? There has to be a more meaningful approach.

I felt that the DFAL had strong competitive balance this year. Adding Northgate and Concord would enchance the DFAL. College Park, YV, Mt. Diablo and Berean Christian seem more suited for a league that also comprises Livermore and DV.

DV is growing but their strength is in academics. The demographics suggest they will be competitive in golf, tennis, swimming, track......but will struggle in the mainstream sports as football, hoops, baseball.

Berean Christian, Ygnacio valley and Mt. Diablo are non competitive. They found a home for them but playing schools like campo, Miramonte of acalanes a in any sport will be a slaughter. Placing DV with these schools

Livermore will be happy to see teams from DV and Dublin but I suspect they will find themselves always at the bottom with DV.

Dublin is growing with all the new development near the outlets. Throw in a brand new school and military kids from camp parks and your have the potential to very good in all sports.

Bluedog2......
True with regards to those team activities where DLS dominates......sure other teams are not so concerned when it comes to Spartan team sports such as golf, swimming & diving, volleyball, water polo, tennis et cetera....

I have no insight into the mind of the Spartan coaches or AD but I bet the feeling is somewhat mutual when it comes to League play. They already do it with football. I don't recall any EBAL coaches or board posters decrying the absence of DLS in the EBAL Football Championships recently. And I say that with no disrespect towards fans & participants in these Championships......I see it as a win-win for all involved.

Have always felt that when a HS team dominates in a particular sport, say 3-4 years running they should be allowed to petition for "Independent" status that allows them to pursue a more competitive schedule. When their domination slips (change of coaches, graduation of high % of varsity players, change in school athletic policy) they could petition their respective League to rescind their independent status and fully participate in League play and playoffs.

In regards to Livermore, this school is the old part of Livermore, but new developments will be springing up and the fortunes of the cowboys is going to change...The schools that tri-Valley listed which includes Livermore are almost even and If DLS should be included, they will be in a different group and Livermore won't have to deal with them.....Doughtery Valley for some reason is a slow bloomer, but they are slowly improving and there again, The teams listed with DV will be able to deal with each other.. Last year the guys put out their ideas as to what the EBAL should look like and they are pretty close to what Tri-valley just listed.
As for DLS, there is little chance that for the next couple of years the Spartans are going to go down hill and they will continue to be the team to beat that no body has been able to do in the area since 1991 when Pittsburg got them 35-27.

Of interest also is Heritage Hi appealing WHAT???....They don't like the idea of a possible CVC moving into the league or do they want out of the league...Heritage High is located in the high end of Brentwood and its reasonable to think that they are getting quality kids, but the last couple of years they have not been able to challenge...Every school goes through this, so what are they appealing???

I don't believe they have to stay under 2000, I think they are able to keep it under the threshold because they are autonomous. It is a bit fishy really.
