Makes sense. New high school. It's smart for them to establish some regional rivalries in their local non-league games. Better gates for home games, too. Playing a mid-tier team from the Bay Area won't get them much media coverage in the Bay or Sac. But playing an SFL team (Whitney) and a close geographic rival (Woodcreek) may get a blurb in the Sac Bee.

What’s weird is Grants Schedule that was posted on their Twitter account is now gone…. So something must have fell through….
And to add to the intrigue, DO HC Josh Parry has a brother Neil Parry who is an assistant coach for SF. I obviously found DO’s schedule on their Twitter page.
Some schools have their schedules posted on Maxpreps already (which is where I found the schedule for Turlock). Go to the rankings for the '23 season and find the team. Go to their schedule; click on the box that has their historical season records and if they have posted a '24 season it will be listed. I would imagine that schools that have established home-and-away contracts for out of conference games will know what their schedules are right now, although with all the conference realignments those schedules might not be set.

McCallie is the school they are playing.Calpreps TN #1.Rated almost the same as Folsom last year
I would guess good flights (and nightlife for tag-along parents/fans) into Nashville, maybe a UT game, and SEC scouts close by. Just guessing.
In 2019 that same TN school played Stellar Prep in TN…... Steller Prep was supposed to play them again in TN in 2021 but the game was forfeited by Steller Prep….
I agree. Feels like there would be a connection to a former player/coach who is now at that school.

A step up in quality of non-conference teams. The Maxpreps ratings for last year for the three new teams are Elk Grove 17.30, Amador Valley 30.60, and Edison 26.40, versus the teams they replaced, Hughson 20.10, Tracy 23.20, and Lodi (1.00). These numbers are not infallible and are often not in sync with head-to-head results but they at least factor in strength of schedule.
My intel tells me no connection at all. Just Taylor trying to step out of the area and get an out of state game. Sort of strange but who knows. One thing is for sure.... Oak Ridge lost there entire line and 80% of those kids are playing at the D1, D2, and JC level next year. We are talking about a top 3 line in Norcal last year. They have a lot of gaps to fill and this will be a huge void. Personally I think they struggle a little next year and wouldn't be surprised to see a 3-4th place type SFL ranking.

He transferred from St. Mary’s. He was the Rams varsity backup QB his freshman year and also backup at the start of his sophomore year (last season), but wanted more playing time. So he decided to drop to JV. When playoffs approached, many expected him to return to Varsity. But, he decided NOT to rejoin the team and instead he put in his transfer to Edison. Also, the Edison QB, Berell Staples, who was going to be a junior moved back to Pittsburg HS.
