Acalanes 78. CN 52 final

Final 7 pm Saturday at Campo
It REALLY sucks that I have to chose what Division final i want to watch in person as the venues are all different for the different divisions. Unlike the SJS where they are all playing at the same place. The fact that the NCS can't do the same is a failure by the NCS commissioner IMO. But of course in the NCS its ALWAYS about the $$$ and not whats best for the growth of the game.

D1/Open final for the boys and girls should be at the same venue. A celebration of HS basketball in the NCS.

I couldn’t agree more. Even if they have to charge $5 more for admission. It’s better for the players to be able to see the other games as well.

Yes at the very least the top games in each section should be held at one site. And if you can get a consistent location, it is even better to build the storyline of wanting to get to (fill in the gym name).

It's definitely fun to do it that way, but with such a large section geographically, it really creates some unfair situations. For example, let's say Cardinal Newman is the top seed, and Acalanes is the sixth seed. Acalanes pulls some upsets and reaches the final.

Because the other games are all closer to the East Bay, the championship games are all held at St. Mary's. Who has the homecourt advantage? What is the value of Newman's top seed?

You play your whole career in a high school gym...
What works on a small court doesn't always work on the big one

Basically been the plight of Modesto Christian boys basketball for years. And they have found a way to win a couple

The big court makes a huge difference. I used to run a halfcourt trap that was much harder to execute on a 94-foot court. And a full-court press is even harder to translate, especially if the opponent has a lot of speed.

Sure, a team can overcome the homecourt advantage, but shouldn't there be a reward for being a higher seed?

I find it interesting that for NCS championship games are required to be at a neutral site, but NorCal championship games are at the higher seeds home court. It seems like for the importance of a NorCal championship that those games should be a neutral site.

People who never played or coached don't understand turnovers happen in the passing lane not on the ball. More space kills you when your press or trap has worked on smaller courts.
