Adhir Ravipati Named Head Football Coach @ Archbishop Riordan

My sources were indeed correct. I was told on Thursday evening but had to keep quiet. This is the absolute best possible hire for Riordan, barring a universe in which they could have hired Walsh away from Serra. Adhir is a phenomenal coach who not only brings in good players but gets the most out of his guys. He'll also make sure they're in good shape academically.

If Adhir is able to build up the program like he did at M-A, any thoughts about what programs are impacted the most?

Will be interesting to see how this shakes out particularly in years 2-4. Shouldn't have any other expectations next year other than getting whats currently on the team to play hard and implement the offense/defense he runs. If he can pull some of the kids that are just being backups at Serra or the ones that have been going to SH, then you might have something really good building. If not, we'll just see more of the same below average stuff.

Having a junior club program and strong relationships with area junior football clubs are keys to sustaining a high school program. Examples are Serra and DLS run camps, flag football and ties to junior football programs. Will be interesting if Coach Ravipati continues his work running Top Flight Elite Football and expands its reach to the SF/Peninsula area.

In theory, with the AAA and North San Mateo County football programs in Pacifica, Daly City and South City in a state of relative flux, mostly on the downside, Riordan does have an opportunity to rejuvenate its football program. But we've been pointing this out for several years. Time will tell if the Crusaders can pull it off.

What is AAA? What AAA program does Serra have that keeps them on the winning side of things?

i think it’s all about coaching and developing talent. I could be wrong but that’s how I see it.

AAA is also known as the CIFSF section. It stands for Academic Athletic Association and is comprised mainly of San Francisco Public schools with a couple charters and two small private schoold in ICA and Lycee Francais as members of their section.

Coach Ravipati already getting a head start offering a free football clinic for 7-8th graders next weekend.
