UConn 102-75 over URI in at Hoophall in an exhibition.

Aidan was a bit quiet in the first half, got pushed around some (but still scored 5) ...

But he was a LOT more assertive in the 2nd half, ending up with 17 points on 6 of 9 shooting, 3 of 5 from the arc. 3 assists, 2 steals...

Didn't start, but he played 23 minutes, 3rd most on the team.

Not bad for that kid from the back alleys of Moraga!

He’s a very good college player and will do well at uconn. He knows what he signed up and that’s less minutes and shots but a chance to play for the best coach in America and a chance to win a title.

0-2 in Maui lost to 2 unranked opponents.
Played 7 minutes today. Them boys little quicker than the fellas at Santa clara and LMU

He is struggling to defend at the moment
Memphis sought him out and went at him
Yesterday but an adjustment period is to be expected he has the IQ to figure it out and
Get himself adjusted.

Gotta play off a little. Give up the jumper.

Yeah, Aidan’s game is not in a good place right now…

Not sure what’s it’s gonna take to get him rolling, if that ever even happens.

So far as UConn goes, Aidan isn’t the only problem. Even if you consider that the Maui refs have been a bit whistle happy, the bigs can’t seem to defend without fouling, and everyone seems to be trying too hardhard and falling for just about every head fake…. Jump, foul when ya come down.

Of course, if the other teams would stop shooting the lights out all the time, it might help…

And let's face it hurleys style of coaching is much different then he has dealt with while I'm sure he knew what he was signing up for
There also has to be a an adjustment period in gaining confidence in a new system.

Mahaney was scoreless and only played 6 minutes in Loss to Colorado. The Grass is not always greener!

He is in the doghouse right now but to be fair to the coaches in the 5-6 games played he's not getting it done. I think shooting around 25% from the field. He is definitely pressing right now.

Yup, rather sucks. Looks like Aidan is playing himself right out of Storrs.

Regarding those opponents, though... I'm sure they'll be ranked now, at least the first two.

UCONN goes 6k miles for 3 L's in the Maui. Ouch. Thats a long ass plane ride home Kiddman.
Lets see how he handles being in the ultimate doghouse. The kid who did well for Uconn from Marin Catholic (Calcaterri) really understood his role and never forced things. Very mature player. Not sure if this has something to do with it.

Meanwhile look at St Mary’s go!

Mikey Lewis has been a real gem for them.

Beat USC by 35 and may have one of the better defensive teams in all of NCAA basketball

Joey did great there as a key reserve and helped Hurley get that first Natty. I think the UConn faithful were expecting and hoping that Aiden would have a stronger and more integral role than Joey did. Right now he is not doing much at all, much less having more of an impact than Joey.

Time will tell if he can get himself back in the saddle and be a key contributor. They need help and Big East appears to be struggling seriously so far this season.

Not sure if Mahoney has that DOGG in him. He needs to be working on his jumper seriously. And it looks like he's doubting himself right now. He's got some skills, but he needs to dig deep and find himself..... Quick!

Like I said a few months back...... This guy here was SPECIAL:

Scurry... Of course he was. He was one of the all-time best scorers in college hoop history. Aidan just trying to get 10-12 pts a game for UCONN.

Looks like Mahoney should have stayed at St Mary's where he was favored. The grass aint always greener. Looks like he has a short leash at UCONN so far..... Barely played last night against Xavier.

He’s been horrible at UConn

Will be interesting to see if he transfers again
He will not be back at UConn next year. They gave him 6-8 games and he was awful. Thats all you can ask as a player is an opportunity.

its not his fault.... playing at st marys vs playing in the big east are like night and day.

hopefully he cashed a few NIL checks while up there. the money at chico st not gonna be the same

He will likely be at CAL next year playing for Madsen. Hurley experiment no bueno.
Andrej has been stellar for CAL and upside continues to grow although I think he should stay another year and get stronger. All about timing but I could see him creep into later 1st round which means he probably will go to league. Remarkable improvement over last year.

caleb foster who played his senior year at notre dame sherman oaks and won a state title, he was so much faster than granada that night and ranked #22 and 5 stars...
he barely plays now at duke. its hard when you up with the big boys... aiden will be a killer back in the wcc or at chico next year.

He is playing the 8th or 9th man at UConn. Certainly not close to the impact that he had at SMC. He might have a bigger role next year at UConn, but likely never going to a a primary guy there. I doubt you will see him at Chico but if he wants to be a leading man again, he will have to leave UConn

I said this last night at the SMC vs SCU, no one on SMC staff will say it …They are better with AM gone.

Bennett loyalty to players. AM would have had to fail before other could have stepped up and with him gone.

They have truly stepped up and SMC is better.

Two points,..whoever posted AM will be at Chico, get over your own dashed hoops dreams you had in HS.

I bet Cal will take him in TP in a minute

For you to ask that question, reveals more in what is said than what is not,..

No fascination with Cal, but Freshman All League in the WCC player who has a cup of coffee at UConn is NOT going to go to Chico,…”wake up from your dream”🤣🤣 or turn down your sleep number on that bed🤫🤫😉

Aw man. Here we go again... The Great White Hype. People on this board can't stand the truth. The fact of the matter is, the kid is an ok player. Not a great athlete, not a great shooter. He was a hometown kid that was favored at St Marys by Bennett. He grabbed the NIL money, went to a place where he wasn't favored, & the truth about his game was revealed. It is what it is.

Speaking of Bennett, he needs to be careful how he handles Mikey Lewis. I wouldn't be surprised if he transfers at seasons end. The kid can play, but seems to only be used when they need him. His minutes played have been questionable throughout the season. He's playing in too much of a system situation for his game. He's probably better suited in a more free flowing style of play.

Either way, the favoritism/politics in sports in some b.s. If they hadn't caught us gambling back n the day at Vegas, I'd be just retiring from the league now. Politics man. I never made it. Lol.

Guess I should at least say something...

It's clear that Aidan's UConn experiment has gone poorly, certainly not as hoped...

I have no idea what Coach Hurley will do. Maybe the coach sees light at the end of Aidan's development tunnel, but I'm guessing not, at least not at this point. Right now, he is cornered due to roster injuries and has to find some way to get Aidan to contribute. Next year? Who knows? UConn's 2025 recruiting class is loaded (a 5-star and three 4-stars) with a 5-star guard, to boot. Only one of the current UConn guards is sure to be gone (graduate transfer this year). I'm not sure there'll be a spot on the roster for Aidan.

On Aidan's side, if he wants to stick with the Huskies, WEIGHT ROOM! (I'm sure he's spent plenty of time in there already, but more results are needed). Or if that doesn't work out but he wants to stay there (I believe he has some family there, so that's a draw), he might have to redshirt and keep on lifting (and other workouts, of course).

Does he like that nasty weather? his curriculum? Does he have a serious GF?

If the answer is "no" to most of that, maybe he'll be back in the West, a lesser D1 school or a D2 power like Chico...

Honestly, I have zero idea. Gotta admit, for me the current situation isn't real fun.
