well... there are more of them so it makes sense that when someone that looks like them makes it move the needle the needle will move.
But the media coverage is exponentially greater than when Sabrina or Kelsey were similarly dominating in college just a few years ago. And they are both the same race as Clark.

I don't believe it will is solely that. Diana Taurasi, Stewey, Sabrina and so many other White American ballers have been balling for years in the WNBA and college. This started when Angel gave Caitlyn some of her own energy back. The people with a more sinister agenda look at those as racial battles and when Angel mocked Caitlyn that gave the people with a biased view and sinister agenda to dig in. It always looks bad when the Black scary person does it to the All American White person especially women.
I've been tooting the horn about Caitlyn since she got to Iowa but she didn't really go over publicly until she started Mocking South Carolina. And that was in porn taste at that. The "you can't see me" mockery was felt as an attack on Black Culture because hip hop is Black culture. Just because Hip Hop caught on globally doesn't negate that Blacks created it. But That is what took Caitlyn over. So Caitlyn
kinda got thrown in a battle she didn't ask for. I don't think she understood the disrespect we felt when she started doing the "you can't see me" mockery. I think she is a good person but unfortunately others have agendas

I agree, but Clark was already getting way more media exposure than those others prior to the LSU game. That just helped put it over the top.
When tiger Woods burst on the scene, no one complained about his race. When the first round leader was a white guy, and all the press wanted to talk about was Tiger no one complained. Because the ratings went up and everyone made more money.
Sometimes a person captures the nations fancy, They are not always the best , but the public loves them. Witness Steph curry. Jack Nicholas was better than Arnie Palmer but everyone loved Arnie. Arnie increased viewership for all pro golfers. why complain?
I think it more has to do with style of play. It is hard for a post player to capture the attention of the public (Shaq being an exception becuase of how dominant he was and his personality). But in mens and womens basketball, the player who can dribble and shoot at an elite level usually becomes the most marketable.
My point is that if a player captures the audiences interest, even if they are not the best, it helps everyone. It increases viewership. More viewership is more money for everyone. Curry was the favorite around the league. Even if there was another player that was better, people didn't care asmuch about that player as Curry.

If you compare the interest in Curry to the interest in Clark during their rookie years, Clark is more popular. I'm not saying better but more popular. Curry wasn't een considered the best guard on the Warriors that first year. Curry became popular after several years when Thompson and others arrived.
People love it when a school out of nowhere comes in to challenge traditional powers. Best example is Indiana State Univ with Larry Bird. Never has a team been so devoid of talent to reach the final game. This carried over to the NBA. Many people wanted to see the Celtics play.
Back to Tiger Woods. He was the best player in the world for 15 years. but the last 15, no one can say that. But he is till the most popular on the tour. If he had the lead after two rounds, then everyone would be watching. Now, who is the best golfer in the world. I don't know and I don't care. So since you follow the best, you tell me who your favorite golfer is. The TV viewership is down 20%.
