Riordan got out to a 6-0 lead 70 seconds into their game vs. Monterey, but it's been all Monterey since then and they lead 45-36 at the half

Not surprised at all. Two very mediocre teams who get way to much press on this message board.

A down year in WCAL, but not taking anything away from Bellarmine. Undefeated IS undefeated. It has been awhile. Congrats to Coach Schnieder.

A young team A respectable 500 in league. Ccs open every year and another NorCal bid. And don't kid yourself the only Wcal team discussed constantly on this board is shcp and the last two years they have been poor.

Jelani Clark has been excellent for Riordan. Going to be quite a player
Crusaders acquitted themselves well tonight despite having a young and vertically-challenged team. I liked Monterey's team - quick, confident and they played very well as a team. #3 for Monterey was baby Harden-like - drawing fouls in the lane, finishing, hitting the 3 and finding his open teammates for layups or wide open 3's. Good luck the rest of the way!

I'm looking forward to seeing Coach Rapp back on the sidelines next season.

For all of us who follow the WCAL on a regular basis, maybe it's time to consider a belated New Year's resolution to cut back on the overly dismissive attitude toward public school athletics in general. Hubris can come back to haunt you. No one is perfect, not even the teams in the WCAL. Let's resolve to scale back the chest-puffing and hyperbole in 2017, the 50th anniversary of the league's creation. It would be healthy for one and all. Thank you in advance. Sincerely, your devoted servant, Col. Henry, a man for all seasons. Unless it's raining.

The Crusaders battled hard to the end which is a testament to Coach Buckner. Moises battled his a$$ off on the boards, Jelani had a nice overall game and James made some shots. Riordan better hope that one of the bigs steps up their game big-time in the off-season. They get the transfer student in there next year and I hear he's a nice piece so maybe they'll have an improved roster / success.

Hoping Chun takes some time off to rest this offseason and tapers off the intense weight training. He appeared physically beat up before the season started and his added muscle affected his jump shot. Clark has a very good game and IQ and became one of the team leaders. Pretty impressive for a freshman. Will be interesting how the young big men develop. JVs and Frosh A's had successful campaigns and should fortify the Varsity in coming years.
