By the way, we don't hear folks from SHP whining about being seeded below Los Gatos, a team the one-loss Gators, seeded fifth in Division I, defeated during the regular season. That was LG's only loss. That's a real ouch.
21-0 vs Leigh, 42-14 vs Mountain View and 27-3 vs Christopher. I would say SH handily won CCS D3 last year. Those teams were not real threats. Ironically this year SI has a pretty favorable path to some CCS/Nor Cal hardware by having not so great record.Nope. Division III in 2021 was perfect. None of those teams were slouches or blowout wins. Besides, D-I is Serra's to lose.
In the regular season SH was able to stop SF run game. Lancers have 3 very dependable WRs. This is the playoffs now so the coaches in theory need to dial up their star players numbers more frequently. Mixon needs the ball in his hands more and Miller needs at least a dozen targets.Defense and special teams will probably determine this one. Add in turnovers and other gaffes. SHC can win. But it will take a really solid, efficient effort. No grotesque, unforced penalties. Focus. SF is favored. But not by a whole lot. SHC matches up physically fairly well.
you already had the benefit of that last year. Points are points...its not about getting "put" there.Brackets are out now.
CCS
They put SHC in Division 1. Ridiculous. 4 WCAL teams, plus SH Prep. Anything for the publics. Division 3 would have been more appropriate.
100!Reality check: No one else beat Sacred Heart Prep. SHC has been competitive throughout most of its WCAL schedule. Only Serra really dominated the Irish throughout 48 minutes. No disgrace in that. Placing SHC in Division III would have made a mockery of the CIF equity model. Chest-bumping about a low-level state bowl win is fine in moderation and preferably in private. But, please, let's not have a repeat of that 2021 sort of miscarriage. SHC is too strong to be downgraded again.
If its not Dougherty that would be quite a gift to SH. Unless your running game is on point, trusting a sophomore QB in a high leverage game in the playoffs is alot to ask for.One issue facing SHC: Who will be at QB for the Lancers this week? The 6-5 starter has been injured. The more mobile and athletic backup has seen a lot of recent duty. Dealing with the former makes things more predictable for a defense. The latter, not so much.
The Mercury News has been whining about it. ‘Oh, poor SHP was so successful, going 9-1 this year!’ while completely ignoring the fact that Salinas also went 9-1 and also played and beat good competition.to be fair I’ve never encountered a SHP fan on this site so hard to say if it’s true or not?
The good news: The two teams will decide things on the field. It's not as though SHP got seeded seventh. The Mercury News has been whining about it. ‘Oh, poor SHP was so successful, going 9-1 this year!’ while completely ignoring the fact that Salinas also went 9-1 and also played and beat good competition.
