San Jose Jesuits win WCAL tourney title. Hey, who knew? Few saw this coming. Bells were basically a non-factor during the regular season. They now share the overall crown with Serra. CCS seeding meeting set for this weekend. Kudos.

Others will understand CCS Baseball Seeding process better than me. BCP was #5 in the WCAL league standings. That gives them an automatic bid to CCS playoffs. After that, CCS will seed the playoff teams according to their CCS baseball powerpoints. The powerpoints evaluates the last 22 games of the regular season that doesn't include league tournaments. Since being league champ gives the most points, we could see BCP and maybe even SF pushed down into DII. Teams we will see in DI are Serra, LG, Leigh, Palma and probably VC, SI and maybe M-A and Soquel.

The CCS powerpoints for baseball is a little easier to understand than football, but it still a very mathamatically based seeding process. Really if there was more interest on this board regarding CCS playoffs, I would work the number for all 40 playoff teams. Someone most likely has already done this process - and if they were contributers to this board, they could post them here.

Wow, I'm not on my game for baseball. I didn't see that M-A and Soquel are in A leagues.

OK, I couldn't resist - I took a crack at the top league champs of CCS. These are intereationg numbers making me wonder what I am missting.
D1
#1 Soquel 72 pts
#2 Los Gatos 68 pts
#3 Palma 66 pts
#4(5) Serra 64 pts
#5(4) Leigh 64 pts
#6 Menlo Atherton 62 pts
And I threw non legaue champ Valley Christian in for comparison
VC 55 pts

And there might be other teams with more CCS points than VC that would fill the last 2 slots of DI

wow

...and some of us actually thought that the WCAL was the strongest baseball league in CCS...apparently not...
We will see. Is there a lot of parity in WCAL or are they down. The WCAL teams beat up on each other. Some of the other teams on this list haven't played very challenging schedules and some of them played other CCS league champs. Serra had no other CCS league champs on their schedule.
