Bigtime Offer

Incredible athlete, great signing for the Ducks, and great to see this young man continue on.

Reporter- here is how recruiting works- He was offered. He did not commit and he cannot sign until next February. He's only a Junior. He will get 40-50 offers as he is one of the top players in the country.

Just an offer, he's considered a USC lean at this point, but it's really early.

Congrats to Devin!

Just curious...I heard he's a good basketball player as well. Is he getting any bball offers?

Thanks.

Ted- Pretty sure he retired the Chuck Taylor's. Started as a freshman but has evolved into a big time football guy. Very tough to play another sport if you play basketball at that school. They do seem to have a good deal of football-baseball guys as the baseball coach has been a football coach in the past. Alloco is good friends with Ladoucer as well as I think he's on the sidelines at football games.

Not at all surprised. He was arguably the best I watched at the State Bowl Games. I doubt he's getting recruited for hoops. I'm sure he could play D1 but at 6"4 he's an undersize forward. The kid is a helluva athlete. I mean Tony G played at CAL and he's a similiar mold but a tad heavier.

Larry- He might be over 6'5 and listed at 255 and Tony Gonzales is a great call.

Just an FYI- My colors are green and gold out of Danville. I was being factual and respectful in my post to you. Is there any doubt he's not one of the absolute top players in the country and get 40-50 offers?

To add to thread:

Yes, congrats to Devin, and I know where UO stands in the college football world right now, but as has been mentioned, he's got bigger offers (USC, SEC schools) already and is bound to collect a lot more in the next 13 months before he signs with anyone.Re: basketball. I had heard that he still was going to play this year, but not sure that's the case. I'd say that a year ago, the conventional thinking on his was that he was going to play basketball in school. He was considered an elite basketball player -- was a "top 20" national kid as some 8th grade ranking, and was 1st team frosh all-state 2 years ago. I'd heard (but don't want to present as very solid) that he had an Arizona hoops offer. In any event, I think football is clearly his sport now.

POPS I agree with you. Football is a route to the NFL for him. Not hoops. But could he play in college? Absolutely. He's like Julius Peppers and Tony G. Freak athletes that are big, strong, fast, and agile. I wish he would play hoops for DLS. Let say this. If he played that would be a legit state D1 contender team. (If they aren't already)

Asiasi can pick any school he wants.

Your Green and Gold will be tough next year. Wish we could have played a second round robin between Pittsburgh, Foothill, Cal and San Ramon. Every game pretty much 50-50.

Good to hear about the Wolves. Interesting to see if they get a certain QB to transfer back.

Thnx everyone for kind words. We miss basketball but sr. Yr still in play. Big offseason of recruiting and preparation and getting ready for 2015-16 spartan football season. Go DLS basketball. Bring home the EBAL. Shout out to smith sr and Kevin Smith of SRV as the battle for EBAL begins. Less go Jordan. less go Nikkhil. Less go SPARTANS.

Is he definitely projected as a TE at the next level? Kid looked like a beast to me and wonder if DE might be better in long run??

Two top five players in the state on one Line. Kudos De La Salle! Sucks for you Galli and Pittsburg! Tony Gonzalez is a very good comparison for Asiasi. The kid is an unbelievable talent.

Sean- I think it all depends where he goes to school. If it's a Stanford type school where they use the TE or USC for that matter, I want the ball in his hands. If it's an Oregon, I think DE would be great. His burst at DE is just special IMO.

Well both USC and Stanford have had 2 way players recently, as does UCLA and probably others. Maybe he can do a little of both and let the pros decide where he fits.

He's a TE all the way. Very good D-linemen at this level, but imo he has better athleticism than Austin Hooper did at this age (although I would put Hooper over Asiasi at DE). Sky is the limit for him at TE. DLS could very easily have two former TE's in the NFL in 6 years.

The big time offers are well deserved. Asiasi is a complete beast on both offense and defense, as well as the hardwood. What is his age? Is he still just 17?
