Clayton Valley Charter and Clovis North played a low scoring, close opener to the 2024 Gridley Invitational Basketball Tournament, but a 15-2 Clovis North run to end the game gave the Broncos a 50-41 win. Loukas Jones had a game high 23 pionts for Clovis North, which moves on to play Riordan. Clayton Valley Charter junior Jett Tran led three players in double figures with 12 points. The Eagles take on Branson today.

Perryman battles foul trouble, but finishes strong: Clayton Valley Charter senior point guard Elijah Perryman (Utah State) sat for long stretchers of the first three quarters but scored seven of his 11 points in the final frame. Ranked No. 13 in the 2025 class rankings, Perryman has good size at 6-foot-3, has good quickness to get to the rim and finishes in a variety of ways. He is also a strong rebounding guard, has the vision to make the tough pass and is an active off ball defender for steals.

Eagles' Sophomores to Watch: 6-foot-5 wing Zion Grissom is on the 2027 watch list and looked the part on Thursday. He can handle it a little, but is most effective working as a post up option. Grissom has good footwork, is patient with his moves and has touch from six feet and in. Grissom finished with 10 points. Terrance Murphy (6-foot-4) is an undersized frontline player, but plays with a high activity level and has good rebounding instincts.

Broncos win from deep: Clovis North, which is now 7-0 with regional wins over Weston Ranch, Sacramento, Dougherty Valley and Cardinal Newman, outscored Clayton Valley Charter by 12 poins from the three point line. Four different players made 3s for the Broncos.
