Well… it was gonna be Campo v. Riordan, but we all know what happened there…

CC was quick to get Riordan to jump into the fray.

Game is on NorCalSports TV, and I’m watching it from my room on my snappy gaming computer’s 27” monitor.

Not quite like being there, but pretty good…

Bang! Hubbard with a Riordan 3…

CC returns the favor, from Lose…. 3 all.

That’s Wilsonburger #1….I think served by CC.

Riordan served one up…. Wilsonburger #2….

but CC on a fast break, now up 7-3.

Corner 3 by Flowers for CC…. 10-3 CC

Sensely fouled…. FT’s go. 10-5.

Now 13-7 after a goofup on my part…. Riordan dominating the glass early, but not scoring off it.

Nive offensive board and dish for CC…. 15-7.

Hubbard scores for Riordan, 15.9.

Alley oop slammed down by Freeman of CC…. 17-9, but Sensely nails a 3. 17-12.

2:02 left first, highly entertaining game…

Riordan steal, drive, layup miss, 2 off. boards… results in nothing. still 17-12.

Lose with a nice spin move…. 19-12.

Finally an offensive board results in a Riordan score… 19-14.

And that’s the emd one the 1st…

Nice pass down low to Lose…. Fouled, FT’s go. 21-14.

Nice hi-lo pass to Vaihola…. 21-16.

Hubbard drives after a steal at half court…. Fouled, FT’s go. 21-18.

NICE offensive board by CC’s Freeman, scores, fouled…. FT goes. 24-18.

The teams are a combined 17 of 17 from the stripe.

Vaihola nails a 3! 24-21.

Flowers hits a fadeway J…. 26-21.

Vaihol tries another 3, no go but fouled on the closeout. the FT streak finally falls by the wayside…. twice, before sinking the 3rd. 26-22.

Chico Lewis sinks and elbow jumper…. 28-22.

Senseley with a niiiice spin move and J…. 28-24, but CC answers with a 3… and Sensely again…. 31-27.

Sensely takes another 3… and THAT goes…. 31-30.

2:12 left in the half.

Riordan fouled on a drive…. FT’s go. Riordan leads for the first time in a long time…. 32-31. 50 seconds left in the half.

Steal, and Sensely with a finger roll… but Flowers ties it with a 3. 34 all.

Wilhite drives, pulls up…. miss, but fouled. FT’s both go. 36-34 Riordan.

Long CC heave misses…. Buzzer.

Terrific half…

Flowers has 13 at the half for CC…. didn’t catch the leading scorer for Riordan.

Senseley has 15 for Riordan.

Lose opens the scoring in the 3rd…. 3 ball makes it 37-36 Capital… but Seck scores inside to make it 38-37 Riordan.

Wilhite drives, dishes to Seck…. two-handed flush! 40-37 Riordan.

Lose with a step-back J…. 40-39, but a Riordan 3 makes it 43-39. Woodson, I think…

CC drive and reverse layup…. 43-41.

Sensely with a nice crossover… drive, makes shot… but charges.

GREAT drive and score by Wilhite… and he was fouled. FT goes…. 46-41.

Wilsonburger #3… long pass down to Seck, slams it home. but CC scores right back…. 48-43.

Wilhite fouled on a shot…. FT’s go. 50-43.

Wilsonburger #4, this one by Sensely…

And he nails a 3. 53-43, danger zone for CC…

Vaihola fouled 2 times in pne possession…. misses FT on the 2nd foul…. makes the 2nd. 54-43.

And that’s the quarter buzzer…. 54-43.

CC needs to find some answers quick.

CC gets a stop, blazes downcourt for a layup…. 54-45.

Bndage drives and hits a floater for Riordan…. 56-45.

Flowers fouled…. Hubbard fouls out for Riordan. 3 FT’sall go…. 56-48.

Nice pass, hi-lo, Seck to Vaihola. Layup, fouled, FT goes. 59-48.

Lose apears to have hurt a wrist, getting iced up.

Pass to McMillan, short baseline J goes…. 59-50. CC needs some stops here. There’s one…. Alvarez rebound, short J, fouled and it goes…. FT missed. 59-52.

Wilhite zips downcourt, drives, fouled… FT’s both go. 61-52.

CC ZOOMS down on the made FT, scores in like a tenth of a second (seemingly)…. 61-54.

Wilhite fouled on a drive…. FT’s go.. He’s made like 10 this game…. 63-54.

5:10 left…

CC fouled outside, 1 and 1. Makes both…. 63-56.

Sensely nails a corner 3! 66-56. Unofficially, he has 21.

Steal by CC… layup and foul…. FT good. 66-59.

CC cranking up the defensive pressure…. Riordan turns it over. Time out Riordan. 3:48 left.

Driving Flowers floater good! 66-61.

CC steps into a passing lane and steals… fast break… and throws it away.

Seck rebound and putback…. 68-61.

CC wastes no time getting back into a driving shot… miss, but fouled…. FT’s whiffed.

CC gambling all over on D, selling out… and Seck gets a pass down low and cashes in loudly! 70-61.

Flowers fouled by Seck…. FT’s both go. 70-63.

Nice pass, Sensely to Vaihola… fouled on the way up. First goes…. Second also. 72-63. 1:57 left.

Time out after one turnover each way…. 72-63, 1:30 left, CC ball.

CC tries some desperate 3’s… no such luck. Riordan now with the rock, 52 secinds left.

Here we go, the ol’ hack and hope…. Bundage sinks a pair. 74-63… CC races downcourt… and turn it over. More FT’s for Riordan. Wilhite makes one of ‘em. 75-63. Seck rebounds a miss, is fouled…. Makes ‘em both. 77-63, and Flowers makes a long 3…. and that’s ball game. 77-66.

Big Win for Riordan. You can tell since there are no playoffs this year, that they are playing whoever wants a piece of them!

No CIF NorCal/State tournament. WCAL and CCS playoffs are scheduled. Not sure if there will be the traditional Open and D1-DV classifications for CCS.
Impressive double digit win on the road against NorCal #3, Capital Christian yesterday considering that CC beat #4 Mitty in San Jose a few weeks ago: Riordan seems to be hitting their stride with the team now pretty much back at full strength. Only 2 seniors on this season’s Crusader team.

I hope they allow fans for these playoff games. My team Stuart Hall, has no NCS or CIF this year, so glad to see at least Riordan will have the WCAL and CCS to play.

I don’t know if Riordan is the hunted, they still are the hunter until they top Campo.

They topped Campo in Gridley, but team Bryce no longer on roster. The ones who choose AAU over team, will own Riordan’s accomplishments or lack of...

To be fair, there was no guarantee of a HS season when AAU started up. The “ones”who played AAU were from schools throughout the WCAL NCS and small schools like SHP. Many of the seniors would not have gathered offers were it not for AAU. Add the transfer portal, and that made earning a scholly more challenging.. Having “one” honor a commitment to any kind of team when the HS season was in doubt should be commended. I haven’t seen anyone say Riordan is the hunted. Time to move on and just enjoy the kids are back playing HS ball.

armchair,

Please sit down and absorb a little information.

If you truly feel that AAU trams and play is being evaluated by college recruiting? You still living in a pre-COVID existence. Unless game was in AZ and recruiting period was open, no college coaches were available.

Now I could be wrong, but this pandemic has brought back the reasonable algorithm of college coaches talking and reaching out to HS prep coaches to get a better understanding of the student/Athletes fit into their programs.

The recruited athletes have played enough AAU to get notices and any program who is trying to build may not have room for there extra eligibility player....

Maybe next year, we will all be able to watch college coaches crammed into gyms to watch AAU games. But not now or this season.

Not surprised. Im pretty sure the SI games was so close because Seck played AAU instead of Riordan.

Honestly, AAU is more important. Hate to say that but this season, you gotta go to where the college coaches can watch you play against the toughest competition.

Next season, this will change, but for this season if it were me, id choose AAU.

I agree Marc. But if your trying to earn a college scholarship, AAU is a much easier path IMO.

Trust me, I don't watch any AAU hoops games, but Stuart Hall hoops for me, is more important than the Warriors/Giants/49ers combined. I literally love my alma mater that much!

Mor Seck has played in all of the games for Riordan this season. City rivalry games (SHC, SI & Riordan) are traditionally hard fought and close. Playing inside of 48 hours even after an historic blowout more so. Rob is a senior and needed the exposure and he got it and was offered by both USF and Fresno St and committed to the Bulldogs. He made the commitment to his club team before it was announced that there would be a HS season. Until then, HS basketball was up in the air...

Do you love SH more then your own family ?

Those kids are my family! We have one kid at Linfield College (Tomas Wolber) and we have another going there to play basketball next year (Josh Puchinelli). I will be going to Oregon and watching them play. Probably have to wait a year or two for them to get PT, but yeah I will be at their college games.

Former Knight Zeke Crawford went to Lewis & Clark and actually got an invite to the International NBA Combine, so he will probably get a pro contract somewhere, if not locally overseas.

Overall we are such a small school, with so few alumni, that I feel its my responsibility to show these kids what school spirit is all about. And I love seeing them have success outside the Basketball Court.

Btw watching this video. Unreal Zion Sensley. This kid can do it all! Freshman unreal....

Disagree... I feel the same way about the teams I follow, especially the Cougars.

Look ankle. When I went to Stuart Hall we were at Star of the Sea. When I chose to go to the Hall we had freshman and sophomores...thats it. I have been with this team when the school opened, and I will stick with them until I die (they almost closed but raised money thank the lord). I have no shame in how much I love this team.

Its beautiful to see them win, but ive been there through some tough losses as well. Comforting the kids, making sure they understood how proud of them I was. Overall, I wouldn't trade it for anything in the World. I am a basketball weirdo. And I proudly accept that!
