In a good non-league game, Carondelet beat Salesian 62-54. Carondelet won the third quarter 21-15 to gain some separation.

Angel Jackson had 17 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocks in the loss.

Good win for Carondelet...heard Bri Simonich had a big game

That was putting it rather mildly. Bri went off ! She was determined to come through for her team. She played well on both sides of the ball. Good effort by both teams.

Clet had ground breaking today on its new athletic facilities....used to be an old club sports....thousands of square feet of training/athletic performance development options...maybe time to move to concord or walnut creek

I see maybe with all those sports at the new facilities basketball gets anything currently at the school site almost single focus and use for basketball.

Carondelet at one point were focusing on building a new gym. I think their gym situation could use a bit of an upgrade. But yes I would think it would only help the basketball program as well as the other programs to have this new facility.

Paytc - I am assuming Bri is the same player you have had some problems with in your long winded assessments of Carondelet?

Not even close. I don't have problems with anyone. I would love see them all get better from the top to the bottom as I constantly suggest and encourage in my comments. Bri has been an outstanding player with a marvelous attitude. And she has had to work for and has earned everything she has gotten. Bri may be the only player on the team who is ready at this point to play and possibly star at the next level. She is an outstanding example and role model the team should pattern after. She has provided a lot of positive leadership, value, and a fine example the team, coach, her parents, and school should be proud of. Congratulations to her on all she continues to achieve.

That tiny gym could use a bit of an upgrade? That's an understatement. Those stairs are more than dangerous. Used to be worse before they put down the pads. It's even worse for volleyball as that low ceiling comes into play with balls rocketing back onto the court.

The cost for building a new gym is off the charts ... and if it's on campus, what do you use for a gym during construction? And if it's off campus, you have to buy the land and get permits. Carondelet is in the middle of a residential area, and even if they could find a big enough site, the neighbors would block it. And having a gym that's 15 minutes away means you can't use it for PE ...

Now if De La Salle is building a new gym, and I think they are, there might be more opportunity to use that facility for big games.

i thought it was 32... maybe it wasnt as clear as you assumed it was...

It will only be 32 if you go out there and judge for yourself and come to that conclusion. It could be any player on the team that stands out as not making the best decisions, not playing team ball, getting frustrated and not keeping the best attitude. It could be #11 or #00.

Bottom line is all kids should be taught how to play well with their teammates while keeping a good attitude and making the best decisions possible. Will and are any of them perfect? No. But the whole purpose is to learn how to play well and work with your teammates while keeping a good attitude. And improving not staying the same. Especially if staying the same is playing one on one, trying to win alone, and forcing up bad shots while frustrated and maintaining a less than good attitude. There is no improvement as a team if everyone is not held accountable. So that goes for players 00-99. No one should get a pass to play poor team ball and maintain a poor attitude. Just as no one gets a pass on Mitty, CW, Pinewood, MM, etc.....

I thought It needed to be said, and it was- can we move on now?

I had heard Carondelet thought about trying to improve the present gym they are in. Do you think they have enough room to get the permit from the city to do even a small expansion to the present gym?

I don't know anything about their use permit, which would define what they could and couldn't do. But if they don't have a theater and use the gym for its stage, then there's really not much they can do.

How many 3 year Varsity players does Carondelet have? They seem pretty young.
