CCS Division 1 Official Play-off Bracket

Petitioned? Are talking about back in the early 2000's when there was no state championship to play for and small schools had the option to "opt-up" to the open division? Many small schools (Palma, Valley Christian, etc.) wanted to compete and win at the highest level because that was the ceiling. Now with state championships in play there is no reason that any school should feel the need to "opt-up" when they can continue on with their season in a state title game in their respective division.

At that time Palma also had double the enrollment they have now. Different times.

You made a claim that simply isn’t true. They have not been a loud voice for enrollment-based divisions. They didn’t start avoiding the top division until 2011. That’s hardly the “early 2000s”.

Even when the CCS had the three Open divisions, Palma still never won a title. They still had to deal with good WCAL teams.

It’s just a weak argument to claim that the small private schools somehow should be entitled to beat up on Monterey, Carmel, or other small schools in the playoffs. Outside of a small minority, no one buys the ‘Oh, whoa is me’ attitude from the small, but powerful private schools. There is no rational argument that Palma is a D-V team.

Does it suck if you’re the 8 seeds in the brackets? Yeah, but the cutoffs have to be somewhere.
