Give me Riordan Vs. Mitty in the Finals

SH, VC, and SI have zero chance against Mitty.
Same goes for St. Francis, Serra and Bellarmine against Riordan.

You have to play the games and the coaching in WCAL is good enough to create havoc and lead a team to a win. Nothing comes easy.. So I wouldn't say no chance. You have to play the games.

Yup. See St. Francis-Riordan in last year's CCS quarterfinal...No easy games.

North #1 Riordan will host throughout the playoffs should they make it to the Finals based on a coin flip with South #1 Mitty. Official bracket link below. Tourney runs 3 consecutive days - Monday-Wednesday.
Men's WCAL Bracket

Riordan vs Mitty would be the ideal matchup, but I wouldn't be surprised if Bellarmine beats Riordan in the semi-finals. I would be surprised if SI beat Mitty.

You know SI kept it close with Riordan earlier this year. And they have a lot of heart.

I take back my previous comment. WCAL might be more entertaining then I thought.

You mean after that 38 point win less than 48 hrs before and the big tilt with Capital Christian looming the next day? Yes. It was close. Haven't seen St. Francis this year and I heard they've had injuries to their two start guards, but I don't think the Crusaders will take the Lancers lightly. They showed the Crusaders an early exit in the CCS Open Quarterfinal last year.
Riordan's defense will need to show up. Teams like Campo, Capital Christian and Mitty thrive on pushing the ball down the court after a made shot opening up the floor for easy layups or an open three.

I recall SHC beat Mitty a few years ago in the playoffs. Anything can happen in the WCAL.

Quarterfinals Results 5/24
SI(N #2) 62 VC (S #3) 33
Mitty (S #1) 85 SHC (N #4) 71
Riordan (N #1) 60 SF (S #4) 51
Bellarmine (S#2) 53 Serra (N #3) 36

Tues Semifinals:
Bellarmine (S #2) @ Riordan (N #1)
SI (N #2) @ Mitty (S #1)

Bellarmine Riordan is going to be good. Excited to see Kiachian against Seck and Rob V.

SI is a real sleeper. They play hard for their coach, but Mitty has 3 College Scholarship athletes, so it will be tough for SI to overcome.

Wow, SI 27 Mitty 26 at the half.

Riordan put this one away in the 3rd quarter. Bellarmine was really missing Kiachian.

Now we get what we wanted....Riordan vs. Mitty for the WCAL Championship

Both teams emptying their benches…
Riordan 74 Bellarmine 43 2:33 left

DId Burris Play for Mitty? I only watched the fourth quarter and did not see him on the court. This game is going to be a great game. Riordan is playing really good basketball right now. They most likely will meet in the CCS Open final too.

SI looks way better than last year and most of their players are juniors. Should be real solid next year too.

I know Nigel has been battling knee injuries this year. In order for Mitty to have a shot against Riordan, they need him. Riordan's height is no joke.

Riordan’s size just too much for the Bells. Riordan’s soph and frosh guards rotated with the starters and picked up the pace with their D and hit 3s over the Bells 2-3 zone. Only 2 seniors on this team.

Mitty 60 St. Ignatius 52
Riordan 77 Bellarmine 53

Wednesday night - 7pm
WCAL Championship Game
Mitty @ Riordan

Both bigs must have had at least 3 blocked shots and another half dozen shots that were altered b/c of their size and length. Good to also see Sensely down low on both sides of the court.

Sensley is an extremely impressive player. Its not like the WCAL is an easy league. Quite the contrary. And he has played good enough to get 1st or 2nd team as a Freshman. For me his shooting has a lot of promise. Also he's listed as 6'6 but I believe he has gotten taller. He wasn't much smaller than Seck standing next to each other.

Tonight’s Final to be streamed live from the Crusader Forum. Tipoff @ 7pm

Yes. Burris played last night. Scored 8 points.

26-17 early Mitty. Mitty is hitting all their 3's. Riordan's defense lots of holes early.

Zion Sensley has been most of the offense for Riordan so far.

Congrats to Mitty. They were the better team tonight. Unforced turnovers coupled with Mitty taking advantage at every turn was the difference. Riordan offense seemed disjointed and pace was slow and deliberate, but a lot had to do with Mitty’s D. Both teams may see each other for the CCS Open Title as these teams will most likely be the #1 and #2 seeds where Mitty will host by virtue of tonight’s win.

I just can't see any other matchup for the CCS open. Riordan seems to beat up on teams with smaller players, but that is not Mitty. Seck struggled against Burris and Bhandal. Mikey Mitchell had a great game all around. He must have scored 20+ points.

If Riordan wants to beat Mitty, they have to guard the three. Mitty got all they wanted from the three point line, and it killed Riordan.

Mitty offense in constant motion and every one touches the ball. Riordan D was a step slow in their switches. Riordan’s offense was very stagnant with lazy entry passes to the post and not giving Vaihola enough touches. Mitty’s scouting keyed on intercepting the passing lanes after a Riordan rebound that led to points. Mitchell and Burke were the sparks with Bhandal, Burris and the rest of the team executing in their roles. Senior dominated Monarch team and it showed. Impressive.

Its kinda disappointing that there are no CIF Playoffs for Norcal, only Socal. I really think this Mitty team, with its senior experience could give any team in California a run for their money.

Ive been watching Nigel since he was a freshman at the Hall, and he seems to have realized how to properly use his size. Mitchell was extremely composed the whole game.

Even though they didn't win I think Zion Sensley did his part. His shot is very good. Hitting NBA 3-pointers in a Championship game.

Big turning point was down 6, Wilhite deciding he needed to shoot a 3 pointer, it wasn't even close, and Mitty was able to break away and hit a layup....4-point swing that killed any momentum Riordan could have had.

Spot on ayalar. Every time Riordan turned it over with lazy passes or unforced turnovers, Mitty made them pay. Mitchell ran the show tonight, and Mitty played confident. Congrats to the Monarchs. How many WCAL championships is that for them?

Seems like no one wants to say it but clearly Mitty has better coaching than Riordan. Period! Talent level is similar. 1 team does the "lil" things consistently , 1 does not.
