Cronin resigns from Windsor

Cal is 5th largest economy in the world in large part because of tech Not because of resources, resources the whacko lefties would never allow us to tap into. Politics is chasing tech to states more business friendly and the population is either dependent on the nanny state or college indoctrinated so they continue to elect grifters who don’t have the state or community interests in mind. In short in my lifetime CA has gone from the top in most every metric to the bottom. (Education, cost, quality of life, etc…) And if people don’t wake up Ca. will be in bigger trouble.
I may regret wading into this discussion, but here goes: your post is wrong.

Yes, California has a huge tech economy. But it is also number one in Agriculture, bigger than the next two states combined:

It is also number one in Tourism:

It is also number one in Industrial Manufacturing:

It is also number one in Financial Services:
And Informational Services.
And Leisure and Hospitality.
And Construction.
And Durables Manufacturing (whatever that is).

California is also comfortably in the BOTTOM half of welfare recipients per capita, and near the very bottom in Federal Aid per capita. Hardly a "nanny state" of dependency.

It also ranks in the middle for educational attainment, not the bottom.

It only took a few minutes to find out all of that. California has an incredibly diverse economic portfolio that not only ranks as the 5th or 6th largest economy in the world, but also has dominant positions in many sectors. Sure, it has all sorts of problems. That's just a fact. It just doesn't have many of them in the manner you described.

Still think here is the best place to live. As people leave, the climate amenities are still here and become more enjoyable/tolerable. During the pandemic slowdown it was nice to drive across the Bay Bridges, up the Coast to the Redwoods and up to Tahoe without
a-hole to belly button traffic jam ups & crawls.
And most of all I don't need the continued value spiral of my home and neighboring real estate that forces the younger generation (especially concrete jr) to move out of state to find affordable housing.
Been reading articles from those "go to states"with long time natives complaining about spiraling home costs, heavy demands on education and civil institutions and overall pressures that rapid population growth bring.
That 70's wail "californication" is being resurrected in those rapidly growing states absorbing those fleeing from here.
Hell California could afford to lose 10-15 million people and I’d be just fine with that.

That's what I'm talking about. Fewer water suck'n mouth breathers clogging up the freeways. Goood Bye.............and on the way out don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split you 😅😂

P.S. Bella.....Pliny the Younger was released today. First time in person in 2 years since the pod people showed up🧟‍♂️

Yes I saw that. Never have waited myself, know a few who have.

Exactly, no longer can we look down on other states as we are quickly becoming a 'hole' as well. CA is no longer the best place to live.

Speak for yourself. It all depends where you live in CA.

I don’t live in a ‘hole’ or anywhere near one.

Not only that, even if what you’re suggesting were true — we still have superior year around weather and every type of climate environment close by and self-sustaining resources. It’s far better to live in a ‘hole’ with those amenities than without.

So, yes, we can always look down and, yes, this is still the best place to live.

Now if you’re talking anything else besides environment, weather and resources, then I agree. There are better places in the U.S. to live right now. The politics, taxes and homeless situations are awful.

Sometimes I feel longtime CA residents that under-appreciate what they have here haven’t lived elsewhere for very long (on a macro-level the same applies to living in the U.S.). While admittedly the politics and taxes have become worse and worse, historically those that have moved away find the grass isn’t greener, just a different shade of green and often times brown, and they typically want to come back.

Sigh. Agriculture represents 2% of Californias GDP. The bulk of our GDP is because of the size of our population, Tech, Media, Tourism. When broken down on a per capita Ca drops out of the top spot below even N.D. We also lead or near the top in substance abuse, homeless, and welfare, and taxes. ( why I said nanny state) In terms of education we rank 40 in k-12 not near the middle, we are in the middle because of higher education. (3) Since higher education isn’t a luxury afforded to everybody yet k-12 is, k-12 is frankly a better metric of the state of our educational system. I’m not going to go over every line item here this state is clearly being poorly run and there is no defense for it. By the way what ever happened to the bullet train to nowhere? Oh that’s right is was scraped, because of cost and being poorly run, just another glaring example of poor leadership. We are now seeing California politics on the national level and it’s doing great things there as well. .( rolls eyes) CA. is my state and where I was born, that said continuing to cling to this top 5 economy as proof everything is ok is a huge part of the problem. Its almost like a alcoholic saying I’m fine with beer it is whiskey that gets me in trouble……..(no it’s alcohol) we need to recognize the issues and failures in leadership here and correct it.

Trying to get this back on track, where does Paul Cronin rank in terms of coaching for NorCal football over the past 15 or so years (state bowl era)? Off the top of my head, he's in the top 10 based on pushing the level of play in the North Bay and his succcesses.

That job CN as a whole did in 2006 against Oaks Christian still is pretty hard to believe

Good Man Streak....You're this threads Eddie Valiant ..Get this hijacked thread back on track.A lot of competing soap boxes here

I think its interesting that a small (211 students) Catholic school,https://www.newarkcatholic.org/about-us/welcome-to-nc/ in central Ohio reached all the way to Northern California to get Cronin as their next Coach which says a lot about Cronin and his coaching.
Or did Coach Cronin reach all the way cross country and pick the 9 time state champions (last time2007)?

His wife has roots in the area.

Did you really type out "sighs" and "rolls eyes" while citing evidence with no source and throwing unrelated strawmen into the argument?

Yeah, I knew I would regret wading into this discussion with non-serious people.

I respectfully bow out before this goes waaaay off the rails.

Have a good life.

You must be on an airplane 24x7 or living on Mt. Whitney.
I travel all over the country for work. It's rare on those travels when I can ask myself whether I could see myself living there. It's only been one time that that answer was yes.

People who move out, more times than not, do so because they can either no longer afford to live here or because they can get a bigger house somewhere else. That's fine, if that's their priority. But, spend a winter week in Chicago or summer weeks in Houston or Phoenix... you can rationalize all you want about why you would move, but that's mostly what it would be... a rationalization. There are issues with any other place you'd live, if you're honest with yourself.

And Cal, like that lady who was concerned about your origins, in all our travels around the states it's only been in Nor Cal up near Leggett has she ever been called out by a stranger for speaking Spanish (as opposed to English) while conversing with her mother on the phone. So no place has a monopoly on pointy heads.
She was nice enough, but I do think she was fairly surprised to see us.

Yes, California has a lot of open space where it's basically Texas.

Oh sorry I took it for granted you could do current research no simply paste outdated articles from a few years back. it’s not like anything I posted is a secret controversial or news. Here is some let me know if you need help understanding it, or anything else you may need. And yes the “sigh, rolls eyes“ comment is to high light my disdain or sarcasm here. It gets tiresome when people roll out the 5th largest economy crap as proof everything is ok when it clearly isn’t. We are a 1 party state that is being run into the ground. The biggest factor in the economy is population and tech, and both are leaving because we are so poorly run. If the voters don’t wake up this state will be in a terrible spot in a decade or so. The separation between the classes is growing wider and wider.

Jesus Christ man- More negative politics? Go do some yoga and chill.

Well he did leave Newman and go to Windsor for a week then back to Newman in what 2018/19? Just to go to Windsor again in 2021.
What’s next back to Piner High? Lol
Yeah :D ! Im thinking Windsor High offense will look identical to the one last year. Like down to the guy on the sideline calling the plays.

Ohio like I said terrible place lol
LOL! I have been to the midwest, just not Ohio. Out of state is VERY tempting but Ohio is not on the Radar.

Anyone know if Windsor starts Spring Ball on Monday? haha...

We may finally get a Newman vs Cronin Windsor matchup! When I was up that way the Piner High players from the early/mid 00's still took pride in beating Cardinal Newman the first year Cronin moved from PHS to CN.

Windsor was really loaded last year so Cronin did take over a very strong team. Newman will be the team to beat this year with all the kids they return. Good to see Paul back in Sonoma County. Ohio isn’t on too many peoples “list”

Heard they’re keeping it in house and DJ Sexton is getting the Windsor job. Also a have heard there was support to bring Cronin back.
Just my thoughts but it would make sense for Paul to support one of his guys to get his start while remaining open for another out of state opportunity,

He’s said he isn’t going anywhere until his son is done with high school. Think his kid is maybe junior high now. So 4-5 years? Then again he’s said a lot of things that have changed rather quickly lol.

DJ is a good coach, a good hire for stability for the program.

He will have the Anderson kids to build the program around. The other freshman receiver they had on varsity last year is moving to Arizona.

Wow the Bay Area and Sonoma county is hemorrhaging young families. It may seem more crowded than ever but the school enrollment peaked 15 years ago in most places and the over population peaked about 5 years ago. Sonoma seems to take the worst brunt of this, too far from the inner Bay Area job centers yet now it’s nearly as expensive. You just don’t see young families move to say Windsor like you did in the past.
