CVC shuts out Cardinal Newman

Hey G61, Folsom WAS on a different level. Now that their great class has graduated, they are just like the rest of Sacramento area teams. By the way, you think Folsom wants to play in the Open Game play in to go to the state open game this year? I doubt it.
mtnjohn,
True to form buddy. All class.

Hard to argue that point of "just like the rest of the Sacramento teams." First off, they are in the Sierra Foothill League. There are no Sacramento teams in that league. Also, Folsom is the NUMBER ONE RANKED TEAM IN THE SECTION.

So...just like the other Sacramento teams? LMFAO!!!

There's nothing stopping the Art Quest students from playing sports, and some do, though maybe not football. I've been told by a Santa Rosa coach that the reason SR is D1 is that the students at the adjacent Ridgeway School, which is basically a last-resort school for all the square pegs who can't fit into the round hole of regular high school, are eligible to play sports at SR (which none of them do) and count as part of their enrollment.

Quaffer,

I believe you are correct in regards to the enrollment issues with SR. Artquest and Ridgeway are included as far as I know. Even with those programs, SR was the lowest enrollment in D1 in the NCS last year if I'm not mistaken (just BARELY making the cutoff line for D1). They probably should be considered a D2 school.

SR currently has the 3rd lowest enrollment in NCS D1 for 2015 with 2064, evidently including art & remedial students. Dublin, new to NCS D1 and slated to join the big boys in the EBAL next year now has 2057 students. Surprisingly, Antioch now has the lowest enrollment numbers of all NCS D1 teams with 2025. Meanwhile, CVC sits down at D2 with 1973 students.

Santa Rosa's enrollment has been pretty steady for 30 plus years (my wife went there). Even before the weirdo kids with the hyphenated names in the art quest and the delinquents from Ridgeway were counted. And it was only Soph-Senior until the mid 90's when Elsie and Carillo opened.

Larry, I love DO's venue. Super cool.

.
Last time I visited Del Oro was in 2008 and they had visitor's bleachers for only a tiny fraction of people. Did they upgrade the stadium? Home side was awesome, but...who wants to sit there?

The stadium was completely re-done a few years back and it seems like they do upgrades every year. Visitor side is much better now. They've added seating to both sides. They had huge screen TV televising the game live on the sidelines. Can't recall in 2008 if they had field turf but they obviously do now. Besides the stadium the fan base is as good as it comes. You see the old timers there and I'm sure a few still get pretty upset when the black and gold comes up on the short end.

Del Oro's venue is amazing.

1tunz1, you need to get outside your bubble and come check it out. The turf is amazing.

Crazy amount of fans show up for Del Oro games.
