In 2015, the JV team that is moving up for the 2016 campaign had a rough season, although they went 8-2 which is not like Spartan JV teams of the past.....The JV team got by Del Oro 8-6 in a tight game, but Lost to Long beach Poly 28-26 in a close one, but got powdered 33-14 by Servite...For the 2016 season the Spartan's have had a big turn out and it will be get down to business on aug. 8th.
DLS has a big choice of people to fill the gaps left open by grad and three possible kids to handle QB duties.
There is a lot of size for the line and several saw duty last season, so its not like they have a green team. There are three choices at QB and maybe more in QyuinSmalling, Bryce Querubin and Andrew Jones....There is plenty of speed in Eligal Short and a few more...
During the Passing contest at Pittsburg, the recievers were up against some good defense and a lot of possible catches were batted away and a lot of catches that should have been caught, didn't happen.
The preseason line up shows possible tough games against Serra, Servite,and 11-2 East Salt Lake city, plus what many are waiting for is the meeting against Antioch on sept 23rd...The season wraps up against Monte Vista which could be a head liner.
Any body that thinks that this may be a down year for the Spartans, better hold their breath, but the four teams listed above just may turn the table on DLS....any thing is possible...
8-20.....Pittsburg Jamboree...not sure who will attend this year, but it looks like Logan, Pittsburg and Deer valley DLS again and this will be a good yard stick for the up coming season.
