Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

It looks like weather won't be a factor this year. 50s - 60s F and no rain.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

This was in the Modesto Bee yesterday. Justin Rice left the game last week for a little bit with a shoulder injury. Not sure if that is the issue or not.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Starting line-ups for today, Looks like Central has seven starters on both sides of the ball expected back next year.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Justin Rice will play tonight.

Central Catholic is the favorite in this one.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

St. Margaret's goes three and out on the first drive. They had a holding penalty on the first play to put them in a hole.

TV broadcast just said the St. Margaret's punter is headed to Stanford.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Hunter Petslansky hit sophomore Jacob Days on a 25 yard post route. He also completed a 3rd and 11 pass to Ryan Vierra. CC has the ball in the red zone

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Streak, how does CC look in person? On TV, CC seems a little slow on offense. And SM seems faster. Hope CC is better conditioned.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

So far, looks like St. Margaret's is loading up the box and letting Petslansky beat them. The junior has made two big throws so far

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

FBAddict,

I'm following on TV too. And I was thinking the same thing about Central's offensen

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Nice drive for central .. showing nice balance

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Petlansky dives in from a yard out on 3rd and goal. Central takes first lead at 7-0 with 5:36 left in Q1.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

CC line looks better on both sides. SM has some nice LBs though.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Missed tackle on 3rd and 10 by CC keeps St. Margaret's drive alive.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

St. Margaret's forced to punt on 2nd possession. Not getting much separation with their skill guys.

TV guys said it and it is noticeable. CC thinks they can bat down some balls today. Everyone's hands are up.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Two penalties help wipe out a 20 yard draw run from Justin Rice. Feels like last year's D4 game. CC just methodically gaining more control as the game wears on.

St. Margaret's starts again inside their own 20.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Shanks walks after a big hit from Jared Rice. Third time seeing Central this year and Jared Rice could create quite a highlight of physical hits.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Jared Rice and Josh Frowein combine for a sack and SM takes a personal foul after the play. They will punt from their end zone to start the second quarter.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

CC hasn't had success running right at St. Margaret's, but have had two nice draw/delay runs with Justin Rice.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Central Catholic goes play action, rolls out Petlansky a little and he throws it up to Jared Rice for a 20 yard TD. I said it last week. Jared Rice reminds me of Dylan Keeney from Granite Bay last year.

CC leads 14-0 with 9:51 left in Q2.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

St. Margaret's has another three and out and CC will get good field position again in SM territory.

This one is starting to unravel for St. Margaret's

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Another Central Catholic score and this could get ugly, Looking like CC is going to wear out St Margaret.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Central Catholic is the much more physical team.It will be out of hand shortly.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Petlansky fumbles as Central was heading into the red zone. Finally a positive play for SM.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Direct snap to Shanks and he doesn't make a great throw. It is an easy INT for Jared Rice. CC has the ball back on SM's 43 yard line

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Montell Bland takes a toss right for 3 yards and it is 21-0 Central Catholic with 5:10 left in the half.

SM has geared to stop the run and Petlansky has made them pay with four big plays.

Yep - with the score at 21-0 early in mid-second and CC gaining momentum, its going to get ugly.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

I haven't seen CC play in person but I'm very impressed with them right now. This is a good football team. This game is over. They are just way to much for this other team.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Let's change it up. If the 2012 Central team was the best of this run, who is the second? 2013 or 2014?

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

St. Margaret's finding a little success going vertical. Central got beat on a handful of deep balls last week against Capital, but Capital couldn't convert.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Krantz to Shanks for a 5 yard fade route. Central leads 21-6 with 2:37 left.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

St. Margaret's has a third down run stopped, but can't make the tackle. Central gets the first down and gets out of bounds.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Central Catholic takes a 24-6 lead into halftime. CC had a 32 yard field goal on the final play after a SM offsides. Here are my quick thoughts from the first half.

Jared Rice is the best player on the field and it isn't close. Looks like a D1 guy. Plays like a D1 guy. Has made an impact on both sides of the ball. He is getting a chance to show off his pass catching skills today.

Penalties have been the only real issue for Central. Hasn't slowed them down much.

St. Margaret's only chance of moving the ball is to attack the intermediate and deep areas. Allow that to set up the short passing game and running game.

Really big field goal for Central to end the half. Takes back some momentum after SM score and after SM thought it had Central stopped a few times on that drive

First drive of second half is key. Wouldn't be surprised to see Central chew up the clock, get a TD and put this one away.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Central starts Q3 on its own 20 yard line.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Justin Rice was just shown on TV in street clothes. Didn't get much work in the first half.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

Central converts a 4th and 1 to extend the drive near midfield. CC is starting to break a ton of tackles.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

About halfway through the third quarter and Central is going on that time consuming drive. Raiders face a 3rd down as SM's 26 yard line.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

I really like Jared Rice Streak. How tall is that kid? Looks 6"4 + and rangy. He is definitely a D1 player.

Re: Division IV Game Thread: Central Catholic vs. St. Margaret's

On the same play they ran for the second touchdown, Petlansky rolls right and throws a jump ball for Jared Rice for a 26 yard TD. Drive went 12 plays, 80 yards and took 6:14 off the clock.

Central leads 31-6.

6-4, 6-5. And plenty of room to grow physically.
