Division One NorCals?

Def don't see 3 teams from sjs going with Sheldon and woodcreek going open. What other good SJS Division 1 teams are there? Last year I believe 11 teams got invited to division 1 NorCals

So possibly San Leandro since Freedom lost first round right? But freedom beat San Leandro. Does anyone know the criteria or body of work NorCals looks at?

You are correct, #6 SL would be the first team brought up since #5 Freedom lost early. Likewise, since #7 Foothill lost in round 1, if both DLS and Dublin end up in the Open, the next team brought up to D1 would be #8 Antioch. Regular season head to head or records don't enter into it.

Because they are the obvious stronger section. Outside of Sheldon and Woodcreek the SJS is pretty weak. And with both those teams going open sjs would be lucky to get 2 teams in NorCals. How does the Fresno qualify?

Some one probably knows this information better but over the last 3 prior years [2014-2017] it looks like this [basically 12 teams]:

4 from NCS
4 from CCS
2 from SJC
2 from Oak

This might be close with Woodcreek and Sheldon sure bets to go open. For the 2 SJC teams just look at who Woodcreek and Sheldonn played in the finals. For 2 of the 4 CCS teams pick up the 2 D1 finalist and add 2 D1 teams that play in their Open section bracket. Of the 4 NCS teams pick from these 5 if one team makes Open [DLS, Dublin, Heritage, James Logan, San Leandro}.

Who does Fresno teams play? And assuming De La Salle goes open is there any predictions on the seeding? Dublin a 1 seed either way?

I heard 4 Ncs teams and 4 Sjc d1 teams would go into d1 NorCals AFTER teams are pulled into the open. Can have up to 16 right?

Yes the SJS is starting to backfill this year so if Woodcreek and Sheldon get pulled up, the four D1 reps will be St Marys, West, Folslm and Modesto Christian.

Northern California Regional Brackets

The CIF Northern California Regional Brackets will primarily consist of teams from the Central Coast Section (CCS), North Coast Section (NCS), Northern Section (NS), Oakland Section (OS), Sac-Joaquin Section (SJS), and San Francisco Section (SFS). Teams from the northern portions of the Central Section (CS) or Southern Section (SS) may be placed in the NorCal Regional Bracket. Each Section will determine the divisional placement for its schools that qualify for the state basketball championships. CIF-member schools will be required to participate in the division that they participated in during CIF Section playoffs (exception- Open Division). Sections may use their own established criteria to determine placement of teams in the five divisions based on the following guidelines:
