DLS 41-point underdogs

Chris Henry is widely considered the #1 WR prospect in the country. And, yes, he is from Ohio. Transferred for this Junior season. He's currently committed to his home state Ohio State Buckeyes.

Most semi-knowledgeable HS fans know what's been going on for most the past decade. How or why anybody tries to argue otherwise escapes me. They're drawing dead.
chris henry father died, and the family he moved with lives in so cal.
furthermore i would rather live in orange county than ohio any day of the week.

Get your head out of the sand. DLS was never drawing kids from all over the country. Not even close to being comparable to what MD and SJB are doing. But even then, yes, there were lots of folks complaining back in those days that they were more of a Regional All-Star team. Well, MD and SJB are Megalopolis All-Star teams, bordering on National.

Just stop already. It's becoming impossible for anyone to take you seriously anymore. You used to be a level-headed poster.

You talk about "grown men". Start acting like one instead of an ignorant, biased, and emotional teenager already.
dls cant that is why. if a kid showed up, they would not say no.

DLS is in the Bay Area, Chris Henry played in Ohio in '23

The LA Times ran a story earlier this year on how they were getting transfers from Ohio, Washington and Florida for the '24 season, that's all over the country the last time I looked at a map
his father died and he moved. 151 games, 22 years, i can remember the locals saying the exact same thing about the good ole spartans back then.

I don’t believe the they are doing it better than we did is a legitimate defense.

Hilarious that you actually called someone an emotional teenager while you yourself became emotional and resorted to name calling.
Pot an kettle. You know what I mean

I think the thing that sets MD and SJB apart from DLS is the transfers….

In 2017 and 18 MD was filled with transfers of the best players from So Cal…. I also remember a couple of kids from TX and a Kid Named “Shoes” from Philly I think…. But in general the “All over the country” statement is an exaggeration….

What gave MD the big black eye was the 3 senior transfer kids who came in for the FB season that transferred back to their public schools after the FB season to Graduate early because MD would not let them graduate early….

If you look at MD now, the have very few transfers coming in, they are getting the top players as Frosh, there are still some, but not many…. SJB seems to re load ever year….

Their are only a couple of “Transfers” for DLS that I remember, Joe Montana’s Kids from Newman and Mackenzie’s kid from out of state, but McKenzie had moved to they Bay Area to be the GM of the Raiders…. And Montana’s oldest kid played 1 year as a senior and was second or third string and the younger kid transferred to Oaks Cristian as a Soph or Jr, in So Cal because Coach Las told him he would not be starting….

DLS has a history of not taking transfers past their Sophomore year, do they get kids from out of the area, of course, 2 of their greatest ever players are from Sac and at leas 1 of them moved to the Bay Area his sophomore year….

But who cares at this point…. Everyone is Beatable, Maybe not MD at the moment, but teams will eventually find a way….

Fair enough.
My point is people can’t complain about teams doing something you did yourself because they’re doing it better .DLS got kids from a number of cities and even out of state so it’s extremely hypocritical to complain that someone else is doing it even if it’s on a grander scale.

hmmmm...
LBP is an excellent educational institute, with top notch athletics as well. your assumption is as far off as it gets about LBP, but i can assume why you think such.

likewise, your praise of all things glorious with the catholic led institution of recruiting nationwide in multiple sports can be spelled out here...

I'll have to get you connected with my friend that graduated from LBP who has a different experience from your description. Now if you think I was implying that LBP is a bad school, I am not. They are a very good school - just not highly disciplined like MD.

LBP was one of the first well known public schools to break the district limitations for school attendance. They excelled in providing special programs that were not offered in other school areas and thereby were able widen their reach for athletes and other special interest students.

McClymond also uses a somewhat similar method to get athletes and other gifted students.

There is no doubt MD can reach much farther that LBP, but don't be misled that LBP is that far behind in its "recruiting" ability. Although I have not done the research, I would guess if we pulled back the curtain on CC, we would see a similar scenario.

and thankfully not a word from dls players, coaches or admin. just people who been a fan since 79
Why do you hate them so much? Not a fan, more like competed against them as I attended a fellow league school. It’s just that I saw what they were when Coach Ladouceur first got there, and watched what they evolved into. It didn’t start with recruiting. It started with a huge work ethic and a buy in from Administration, players and parents.

oh i do not hate them at all. i like the fact they take kids from north richmond, ESO, Pitt and the yoch and give them a far better environment to learn and excel. i hope it does not stop and i wish they gave more kids the chance.
i am undefeated vs them as a public school kid, granted my public school recruited and had address hook ups but i blame that more on the crack cocaine epidemic of the 80s and 90s.
nevertheless... i just wanna call a spade a spade round here parts. DLS had a stranglehold for the last 30 years, but when someone does it better its a problem

Bunch of crying and complaining from adults here. It’s actually quite comical. Nobody is playing under different rules everybody plays under CIF rules if there are different set for the two institutions being complained about please list them. Next the reason players gravitate towards schools like MD, SJB, etc is for exposure to get them to next level. The notion these programs hit the recruiting trail once the season ends is ridiculous, kid transfer there because what they have built, and competition they play period. It is true DLS can’t compete with these programs when it come to this for many reasons not all being DLS fault. The crying by NORCAL fans however is borderline pathetic it sports there are winner and losers, it happens. Want to complain about real unjustified actions in sports? Get dudes out of womens sports don’t cry about where a kid or family chooses to play.

They recruit very aggressively in pop warner circles. MJD does a ton of it in pop warner and 7x7 travel ball. Do some research on this and come back and let me know what you find out.
Yes they do recruit in Pop Warner/ Yourh football circles. I’ve coached a few DLS kids. Well aware

It's not just in NorCal.

Upon finally retiring as coach of Mission Viejo, Bob Johnson was asked about Mater Dei. His response was "Best team money can buy. I can say that now that I'm retired."

They got 2 lineman from Oregon and 2 running backs from nor call all starters. Chris Henry jr from Ohio as well

So 5 out of the 11 starters wouldn't be from the la area

Now granted both they nor cal running back they had since 8th grade and one of the lineman since 10 th grade.

It is still a advantage over de la salle where all the kids from Pittsburgh Antioch Brentwood area.

I don't question mater dei greatness, cause they beat teams similar to them. St Frances, Bosco, Gorman, img, duncanville, centennial and mv.

It is not the same tho NorCal teams don't have so cal or out of state players

Nobody is playing under different rules? Have you been living under a rock the past 10 years? Name me a another team that has out of state players on their roster.

Not true, go check where Riordan is getting their kids from. Then Folsom. DLS has drawn kids from Sac on multiple occasions. And the they don't take transfers is pure &%*&%^(*

Henry is out for the season. Take all the kids from "out of state' off the Mater Dei roster and I believe we still have a serious mismatch.

the nor cal players arent as abundant.

If a kid moves from out of state or nor Cal and re locates to So Cal and Goes to MD, I don’t see how MD is breaking any rules…

What specific rule is MD violating?…. I think this is all pretty overblown…. 🤣

DLS does not take Junior or Senior Football transfers, they do not try to poach kids from other schools, that’s not how they operate their FB program….

Now Baseball and Basketball are a whole different story…. 🤣

Johnson was vocal about Public’s playing Privates period it wasn’t just MD. His comment was made after he had just lost his last game to MD after a long career. Highly doubt he was making these comments leading up to the game. Johnson also never turned away a transfer himself.

HA!!…. Yes, it’s no secret how MV’s Farming program looked like a Football team…. 🤣

Come on OC you really think these kids from nor cal and out of state just magically get the money to move down to Southern California right when they start high school 😂😂 you know better than that. MD has recruiters in the Bay Area, That’s where they get a lot of their skilled players. They literally tried recruiting Jayden Jefferson for God sake in summer of 2022. Everyone knows that pay players not all but the heavy hitters yes it’s not just MD as well. It’s not a secret anymore this isn’t 2018.

HA!…. It’s Definitely an odd Coincidence, but I just have a hard time believing that there is any Benefit to any HS to pay a FB player…..

There are not College’s, there is no TV money and they are not trying to sell out 50k+ seat stadiums…. HS Attendance is 5k people a game if they are lucky…. For the biggest games the Santa Ana Bowl holds like 10k….

To spend $100k+ to move a family to So Cal and $20k plus tuition at MD a year as well just for a FB player is not realistic or doable at all…. I just don’t see it….

Do they recruit, of course they do like all high schools do…. I could be naive to all this though…. In South OC there is a Ton of $$ in those schools JSerra and SM…. OLU and MD in the North OC…. So of course I could be wrong, but I just don’t see it…. 🤣🤷‍♂️

CIF payment rules are clear: NIL cash is perfectly OK. So an alum or other interested party can pay a teen and make sure he (or she) attends a particular school to play a sport (or two or three). No problem. The school itself can't do that, however. The pony is out of the barn and running loose on the landscape. Get out your checkbook, bro.
