Hello Everyone,
The 6th Annual Eastside Prep Coaches vs Cancer Classic begins this Thursday at Eastside Prep and Menlo School. As in recent years, there are three divisions, one Elite and two Competitive. The Elite Division this year os a four team round robin, while the to competitive divisions are 8-team brackets. Here is a breakdown of the Elite Division and the schedules for the Elite and day 1 of the Competitive divisions.
Elite Division Teams
Whitney Young (Chicago, IL): Traditional Chicago powerhouse. Features one of the best sophomore posts in the midwest, 6-3 Cameren Williams, and one of the best freshman in the Chicago area, Timea Ware (leading scorer).
Page (Arizona): Arizona 3A state runner-ups last season (lost by 1 point in state championship game). What is also interesting about them is that, unlike most of the best teams in Arizona, they are not located near Phoenix or even Tempe. Page is a northern Arizona, on the Utah border next to Hopi and Navajo territory.
Central (Fresno): Feature USA 16U finalist and national recruit, 6-4 Ramani Parker as well as 6-0 wing Imani Lacey, another D-1 recruit.
Eastside Prep: Two-time defending California D-5 state champions. Feature two-time California D-5 state player of the year, Kayla Tahaafe.
