I don't know any details, but Fairfield beat Vanden 74-71 in double overtime.

Vanden will play Sheldon on Saturday.

Vanden is a lot better than you think. They are extremely athletic, pack it in on defense, attack the glass for rebounds and have some guys who can shoot it. Against Fairfield they were missing a starter who was playing in an all star football game per the fairfield daily republic

I've seen them play about 10 times since the summer so I'm aware of how good they are. Good but not great. Shackleford is very good and they are very well coached. I still expected Sheldon to handle them pretty easily. What happened in the game?

Good/Great is debatable on many levels. No matter how you want to interpret it Vanden is easily one of the areas best. Ive seen them play several times including the summer and they gave Capital,Grant, and the likes fits. They are athletic and play very hard.
Everybody always gets juiced up to play Sheldon and they have to come ready to play every night. Last night they got to the paint and either didn't finish,or got hammered with minimal fouls called. When they did get to the FT line they were uncharacteristically bad and it almost cost them. Elisha Duplechan after scoring 20 in the first half made 4-4 crucial FT in last minute. One thing I've seen from this Sheldon team is they find a different way to win every game. One constant staple is they get after it on Defense and guys like Drew Cobb with somewhere near a triple double last night

Anybody can beat anybody on any given night. But if Sheldon played bad and Vanden played great and Sheldon wins by 7 in OT then there you have it. If they play 5 times I pick Sheldon all 5. That's not a knock on Vanden, I love Vanden I think they are a good team. Capital Christian is not the measuring stick of a great team btw lol.
