Thanks for including the FCS, Streak

I'm not just saying this because my son played at the FCS level, but those not in the know often overlook the high level of play in the FCS, especially in the Big Sky and Missouri Valley conferences. Even though North Dakota State gets all the love, the University of North Dakota is certainly no slouch of a program.

Two or three years ago when Cal Poly visited NDSU I kid you not they trotted out 10 or 11 quality defensive linemen to combat the Mustangs run game. Cal Poly's triple option relied upon wearing down opposing defensive linemen, but there was no wearing them out with all their depth. All FCS programs have a smattering of players with FBS offers, mostly group of five offers. Mutant programs like NDSU and James Madison have many players with FBS offers, some of them power five offers. On average those two FCS programs are able to recruit much better than average FCS talent.

It isn't a hard and fast rule, but I think FCS generally recruits better football players. Don't always check the physical boxes needed to player Power 5/high end MWC conference football, but those players that end up at FCS are really productive players

I think that's a really accurate assessment on many levels. My son, like many had lower end MW offers like Reno, UNLV, Hawaii and New Mexico. Those that get BSU, SDSU, FSU and now SJSU generally take those offers and forego FCS and I don't blame them.

Funny story when my son took his official visit to Cal Poly late in the process he befriended a defensive lineman from Los Alamitos. A few days before signing day that guy got an offer from Boise State, so he scarfed it up and dropped his commitment at CP. While at Boise State he never cracked the starting lineup in five years and played mostly special teams. In the Big Sky Conference he would have been an absolute beast. He didn't play a lot at BSU, but he got to play in a bigger program and play in some bowl games.

It is all about what you want your college experience to be. There was a player about 10 years ago from the area who had a dream school in the Power 5 level. Wasn't a Power 5 level. Got the dream offer and took it. Rarely played, but spoke well of the experience. As long as a player is ok with the outcome, that's the goal.

Yup, some strive to be a big fish in a small pond and others a small fish in a big pond. Then there's the elite like Najee Harris that are a huge fish in a huge pond.

True freshman from DLS Ben Roe, DT for EWU had 5 tackles for the Eagles. Don't let the bio fool you, he actually weighs 300 and he got more reps than the starting DT

Kooper Richardson (Folsom) also made his 28th career start on the offensive line for Davis

CP interior OL will have their hands full with Ben Roe and a couple other DT's from EWU. This game could resemble last weeks game against Davis CP +24. With all that said, I think EWU is slightly overrated this year and I rank Davis higher than EWU. The EWU offensive line is nowhere near as good as it's been the past few years.
