I don't post much on the women's side but what a great year for talent.. Wow... The list of girls getting scholarships is very impressive. Congrats to all of those fine players. I got to see a handful of the teams and kids play from the list and fundamentally speaking most of these girls are ahead of the guys. They shoot it better better, play more team oriented ball, and seem to be easier to coach.

The girls also rely more on skill than "athleticism". That's why I enjoy the girls' game more than the boys', as I'm sure is true for many of the posters on this list.

Yup, agreed with SBHF.. when I do watch guys, it will only be the DLS's or WCAL teams, that are well coached and actually think the game a little.. oh and know how to play defense.

Welcome Larry to the girls' side of the operation. Nor Cal is a hotbed for D1 hoops talent!

At some level, it may be that girls play a more "fundamental" game than boys, and I do think it's true that most high school girls rely less on athleticism, but there is plenty of mindless play out there. One reason is that girls, in general, do not watch basketball on TV and thus don't absorb a lot of the nuances of the game away from practice, and of course, almost never play pickup so have a limited feel for fluid situations.

Perhaps some of us are seeing different things. Because to me the girls game is still light years away from the boys and that is why attendance reflects that fact. And why the WNBA is struggling to stay afloat as the NBA continues to thrive even with the poor era we are witnessing today. I will say the grounds that the girls have made up has been impressive. They are deserving of a larger attendance.

There are situations and players both girls and boys who at times put on a little too much one on one hot dog session. But I personally don't mind players stretching and challenging what they can do, as long as they find a way to keep it within reason, and/or within the flow of the game.

One advantage girls have that boys don't is a small player has a better chance as a girl to dominate than a small boy has of even making the team. That is in high school , college, and pros.

Of course I have to admit I haven't followed boys high school ball quite as closely as I have the girls game as of late.
