Big game up in El Dorado Hills this Friday. SFL title at stake as well as probably the #1 seed in D-1 playoffs. Any thoughts on this one? Personally I give the slight edge to Folsom due to their track record, but a very different Folsom team from the Folsom teams the past 2-3 years. As for Oak Ridge they have a great QB in Ian Book and have put up some solid numbers on offense. Their defense seems to be up and down. Nevertheless I will be there with my three sons to watch a great norcal football game! Any thoughts?

I don't think this will be as good a match up as it might appear to be judging by W/L record. I'm inclined to pick Folsom by 21.

I see Oak Ridge as a team living on borrowed time so-to-speak. They struggled to beat Whitney, Woodcreek, and Del Oro and could have lost at least 2 of those games. They did beat Rocklin more convincingly that Folsom did, but Rocklin wasn't playing as well as they are now and were missing key defensive players.

Matchups (styles) make a fight, though, and it will be interesting to see if the dual threat skills of Ian Book can bother the Bulldogs defense. It'll also be interesting to see if the Trojans defense can contain what is more of a power rush attack, with the QB option mixed in. They've given up some points.

I am going to disagree Thunder, as Oak Ridge has had many injuries themselves on Offense and Defense i think this will be a much closer game. Ian Book is one of the best QB's in the state and he does a lot of good things with his arm and his legs. The big question is can OR defense stop Folsom's Offense. OR held Evyn Holtz to under 35 yards rushing.... with 2 key injuries on defense... I am not saying OR is going to win big, but I do believe this to be a closer game than 21 points.

I'm at a crossroads here because this is right in my neck of the woods. I get what Thunderram is saying. I've seen both teams play a few times and Oak Ridge and Folsom are both teams that don't make a lot of mistakes. Oak Ridge isn't going to beat themselves in other words. That works well against most teams but then you plop in Folsom who is equally or more talented and coached as good as anybody and it becomes a different story. The one critique I've had on OR is they don't have a great amount of team speed and there Defense is inconsistent. Hunter Rod from Whitney who is a fine player absolutely tore them up. Jeffries has equal if not more ability especially with his legs. If you haven't seen Book play do yourself a service and come out. OR has one of the best venues around. Great field, awesome band, incredible snack bar , and very good school spirit. I'm going Folsom 30 and OR 21. I think this will be a good one.

I can't refute anything you said. You may well be spot on. OR certainly has had their fair share of injuries and perhaps they can play much better than they even did against Rocklin.

It may not matter at all, but my contention is that Folsom faced a much better Rocklin team than OR did. The Thunder have been a different team the past 3 weeks since getting Chase Hatada and others back healthy. Hatada didn't play all season until the Del Oro game and Rocklin's been really good since. In fact, I'd like their chances in a rematch with OR if they drew each other in the playoffs. No disrespect to the Trojans, as they are a really good team. I just believe when all things are equal health wise, I like Folsom and Rocklin better.

As far as this matchup goes, I'd really like to see OR step up. I think they could, but I also think they are going to have to play a near-perfect game or have Folsom play down a notch or two. Ian Book is certainly an x-factor. If he has a phenomenal game, he could very well carry that team. We'll see.

I'll take Folsom as well, but don't underestimate the backyard rivalry in this one that will have both teams playing inspired ball.

Well good plays in 1st qtr. both teams came to play. I just wonder if OR can make enough big plays to win. Jeffries has a lot of time to pass. OR turnover hurt as Folsom scored.

Nothing in the middle. Folsom D is impressive.
Field goal wide right by Folsom.
Still 7-7

Yeah I get the feeling Folsom could break one here. But OR is staying leg and leg right now. Folsom looking a little sloppy. Turnover on downs.

OR first down on Folsom 36

Folsom strikes quick!
14-13
If Folsom cleans it up they are going to be hard to beat. They have noticeably better speed.

I think Folsom will wear down OR in 2nd half. There line just pushes you all over the place.

Books athleticism has to have ND staff happy.

. . . . mmmmmm. Looks like a slight lull in the action, or reporting. Okay, let's fill the void. Oakridge is from El Dorado Hills. So, where and what is El Dorado Hills? Is it a place like Rocklin? Or Loomis? Or Granite Bay? Or is it a neighborhood tucked into some whimsical pine and oak-shrouded valley like in the musical Brigadoon? Muds

It is a town. It borders Folsom to the east off HWY50...

Hey! Guys! Anybody there?! H--E--L--L--O! Okay, I guess it must be half-time, but that's nooooooo excuse to shut down the texting machines! I mean, what's the crowd like? Temperature? And wind? Smell of rotting leaves and molding jackolanterns in the air? Any kids dressed already a night early for Halloween? C'mon. There is more to attending and reporting about a hsfootball game than what's taking place between the white stripes! Muds;)

14-13 Folsom at Half!
Really good game. Folsom gets ball to start 2nd half. I would be shocked if Folsom doesn't come out and take care of biz. They have a few more weapons.

Great crowd Muds. The smell of Halloween in the air!

Thank you, FolsomBulldogFan, "a town" on the border of Folsom is a good start. How are the tri-tip sandwiche3s at the concession stand? Better than those at Valley Christian's stadium? Or at the home of Pleasant Grove? I noticed on the Pick'em thread you posted your picks about 17-18 late. Not to worry, Boss Man Streakster seems in a generous mood this night before All Saints Eve and maybe he cuts you some slackareeno, or at least gives you a tootsie roll. Muds

Let's hope he gives me the benefit of the doubt on my picks

EDH is a beautiful town just east of Folsom, as you start to incline towards Tahoe, off HWY 50. Both are really nice areas...specially for some football!

Getting the picture, thank you, TFD! This time of the year, indeed, in those verdant hills, just far enough from SactoCivilizationMadHouseness but not so far that it feels like Lassen or Mariposa in the sticks. What's the stadium like, Del Oros? Muds
