Folsom @ Oak Ridge

Must be time for the second half to begin, or our poster guys are taking that last minute break in the block house where cement walls rest havoc with cell phone coverage! This should be a really HOWLING second half! Muds

Jeffrey has impressed me. Not that it mattered but the kid tossed one 55 yards off his back foot to end the half. (hail mary that failed). Not many kids or college players can do that. OR driving again.

I had a feeling Folsom had to much speed and size for OR to keep close. You could see it in there first half on certain plays. OR has one achilles heel this year. No real team speed. Just a bunch of solid HS kids playing hard.

I've watched over the last few months on here ThunderRam discount every Folsom win including the one against Rocklin.

Maybe this win will bring put him on the bus finally.

Trust me it's over. Folsom is a lot better than even I thought. Def another state champ caliber team.

I heard Ian Book threw a Td pass and converted 2 pt conversion. 35-21.

Then recovered an onside kick.

. . . . mmmmmm. Looks like a slight lull in the action, or reporting. Okay, let's fill the void. Oakridge is from El Dorado Hills. So, where and what is El Dorado Hills? Is it a place like Rocklin? Or Loomis? Or Granite Bay? Or is it a neighborhood tucked into some whimsical pine and oak-shrouded valley like in the musical Brigadoon? Muds
El Dorado Hills & Folsom would be a continuous city if it weren't for the Sac County line. The eastern edge of Sac County is the eastern edge of Folsom and the western edge of El Dorado Hills with a "no mans land" on the line. Imagine the area below high power electrical lines, thats what it looks like between the two. Generally as the hills start to rise, so does the views of Sac to the west and the price of the homes.

Hey! Guys! Anybody there?! H--E--L--L--O! Okay, I guess it must be half-time, but that's nooooooo excuse to shut down the texting machines! I mean, what's the crowd like? Temperature? And wind? Smell of rotting leaves and molding jackolanterns in the air? Any kids dressed already a night early for Halloween? C'mon. There is more to attending and reporting about a hsfootball game than what's taking place between the white stripes! Muds;)

The crowd was announced as 6k by the announcer several times. It was packed, but (like most attendance #'s) I believe was inflated. The temp was shorts appropriate, no need for sweatshirt or jacket. As for the wind & smell, see attached photo. I would love to say that is smelled like a delicious tri-tip, but generally it smelled like a wet campfire with similar smoke that literally covered the entire field all night!! For a guy with contacts, it was a pain in the a$$.

As for the game itself, as an ND hater I hate to admit that Book is better than advertised or I remember from previous years. Bigger, faster, stronger than last year. If I was a betting man, I would guess him as the fastest guy on the field tonight. Very similar to previous QB's I've seen against Folsom in Sperbeck @ Jesuit (Now a WR @ Boise State) and Kline @ SRV (Went to Cal, then Butte, now @ Indiana State). Didn't compare to Browning in reads & throws, but I don't believe he had the targets or system Browning had to show off his arm. Depending on how he develops, could see him going the way of Sperbeck and playing WR at ND if not QB.

I think I called 30-21 Folsom in a previous comment during the week. Score ended up 35-21 and don't be mistaken OR is as advertised but Folsom is better than people in Norcal realize this year. Not the high powered offenses from the past but very effective and tough as hell against the run and pass. If OR didn't have a superstar like Book who beat Folsom a few times on broken plays this game could have been worse.

Book is all QB AWOOD. Sperbeck was a track star at Jesuit who was so athletic he could play QB and hurt you with his feet. He's a great fit at wideout over at Boise St. I would be shocked if Book took that route. Totally different players and body types. Book is 6"2 210 and Sperbeck was 6"0 180 coming out of HS. But what makes Book a "STEAL" IMO is he is a lot more athletic than all those great recruiters who let him slip away from this area.

I watched a few plays from near the OR sidelines and the size and strength of Williams and Richardson anchoring the line is just silly at the HS level. Both kids legit 6"5-6"6 290. Williams will be a pro. I've seen enough games and kids over the years to make this sort of a statement.

Good luck beating folsom. I don't see it happening. Great effort Trojans. Awesome atmosphere and best 20 bucks I spent with my family.

Great write up LL. I have been reading these forums for years now and heard it all as it pertains to Folsom. I believe I even saw someone write on here, that we were average at best? What gives?

Also, go check out my prediction in the Pick Em. Scary huh?

Nice job Folsombulldog! You guys know your team well. I have a ton of respect for both programs. It was hard for me to really root for x or y. Jeffries can play in college. Somebody needs to look at this kid. He did some things I haven't seen many do. But lets talk about all those skilled players nobody says a lot about wow!
#21 Eric Davis- What a blur. Has a gear that OR doesn't have and is only a jr.
#24 Tre Green- Big strong Back with speed. OR didn't have many answers for this kid either.

I'm sure I missed a few others but those 2 kids along with the normal players stood out. Congrats to the bulldogs. Keep taking care of biz.

Thanks LL! Jake Jeffrey will play somewhere. People don't remember how good of a wide out he was on last year's state title team. Dude can play.

I have been saying all year that Folsom will not blow most people out, but they will wear you down. Completely different pace from last year. With that said, great game and atmosphere up in EDH last night. I was looking around and thinking it could be much worse, haha

Me think you wrong. I've been on this board for over a decade. I'm more of a hoops guy anyway.

I grew up watching guys roll through ND and base it on what I have seen out of Kelly in South Bend. ND doesn't often "find" guys (they go after top talent and get their fair share) Recently Golson was the last example that went through, has proven to be a pretty good QB at FSU, but got lost in the backwash as Kelly kept trying to make his square peg of Tommy Rees "fit" and then bailed for the more taughted Zaire. As a local kid, I wish him the best. As an ND hater....I still wish HIM the best!

To the best of my knowledge, the only kid with an offer other than Jonah is Tre (Cal Poly). In recognition of my Midwest biased (Power I & defense) mentality, I am still saddened by the lack of attention for #27 Roger Neal. Team Captain and 2 way player (98 tkls at MLB & RB) makes great blocks to keep JJ upright, gets the tough yards up the middle when they need 'em, has soft hands and runs over people in space! Look at 9 receptions for 295 yds! When he "leaks" out of the backfield and has a corner between him and paydirt it's a sad day for the CB! Doesn't pass the tape measure test though at a solid 5'9" 205lbs. Won't be disappointed if he decides to go to ARC and I get to watch him a few more years and catch the attention of some D1 there.

I coached Roger as a freshman basketball player. He is a great kid too. Constant smile. Best 5'8" rebounder I ever coached. He is a warrior and will make some college football coach happy next fall. He is a key part of Folsom fb success on both sides of ball and deserves more credit.

Me thinks....

G61 + FB = LL

I can vouch for meeting LL in person at a game. Unless he has a split personality (do you Larry??), I don't believe they are one in the same -- although I do have to give LL a hard time for his liking of G61. Not sure where your head is on that one, my friend, unless you relate to teenage mentality and banter. I personally do not and don't care to waste time with non-sense. Like bulldogmgc, I'm a big proponent of the ignore feature. ;)

I sometimes give LL a hard time for hyperbole, but he just loves watching all these kids play ball. Nothing at all wrong with enthusiasm and excitement. Most my friends/family don't share my liking of HS football so it's always nice to meet those that do. I think it's the purest and best form of the sport.

Thunder- Thanks. I enjoyed meeting you as well and can vouch for your analytics to the game. Impressive. I get excited sometimes but overall its the purest form of sports and there isn't anything better than Football and Basketball at the HS level. Maybe March Madness…. Ha ha.

I'm also not afraid to voice my opinion. I've seen teams, coaches, and kids who I don't care for. And guess what. I'm going to let you know. In many cases my predictions have been spot on. The white elephant in the room. But its the 90/10 rule. 90% of the kids are great.

Any chance LL or TRam were sitting on the Folsom side Friday night? About 4 rows up at the 50? Couple of fellas were in the row behind me talking enough to tell that they weren't parents, scouts or coaches...just there to see the game.

Awood1- I was over on the OR side near the crazy student section! I appreciate your post. You obviously know the game well. I hope Book gets a chance to play at ND. Either way its a good education and probably worth $300k in tuition, room and board, etc. I just think Jonah Williams is off the charts. I have seen the likes of Armsteads, Vanderdoes, etc and he might even be on another level. I know that is crazy but Armstead is the kid who walks and and everyone drops there jaw but between the tackles I've never been overwhelmed. Williams has a mean streak to him. He wants to embarrass you.

Nope - While I'd like to have seen that game, I ended up attending elsewhere. I was bummed when I found out it wasn't being streamed either.

That's another thing I know very well about you too -- that you get out to see a lot of different teams and venues. Your opinions are almost always coming from a 1st person perspective.

I don't get out to as many games as I used to (streaming and TV has made it easier), but I get out to my fair share of different places. Although this year has been a little different. I've only made it out to Grant, Del Oro, Rocklin, Folsom, Casa Roble, and Oak Ridge thus far.

When I used to have a CIF pass, it wasn't uncommon for me to leave a game after a quarter or half (if the game was a blowout) to head somewhere else.

When I stay home, I usually have a SoCal game on the TV (they broadcast every weekend) and 2 local games streaming on my computers. Friday nights have often become somewhat of an NFL Sunday at my home. My wife thinks I'm crazy!
