Fortuna vs. Newman

The way I see it, if CN wins section they will be one of the teams picked for small school open division regional game. If Central Catholic beats Oakdale, then it will most likely be a CN/CC Open game. The NCS D4 Champ, whoever it is, will go. If Oakdale beats CC, and with Palma losing last night, McClymonds might get the nod for the open game, or perhaps Sacred Heart Prep, if they can beat Riodan in the CCS Open 3.

I got Newman playing MC for the championship and I'm sticking to it. (hmmm…. which MC) Not looking ahead… Yes I am. If Newman wins the NCS champ what is the next stage? Is it the norcal bowl selection?

larry...

go to Cal Hi and watch the videos on the bowl selection process...it should clear up any questions.
As far as I can tell.....IF marin catholic wins today, the winner of the MC/CN game would be in the play in game for small school open.
But again, just watch the videos....

I'm more pleased with Fortuna just handling there business. No complaints. Hell if anybody is hurting this morning it sounds like newman… They got pounded on.

CN dished out their share of licks on Fortuna. I was thinking last night there's going to be a lot of sore bodies from both teams this am. Ice, hot tubs, massages, limping around, trouble getting out of bed. :)

Spot on. Compare these comments from the Fort Bragg coach last week in the Marin IJ

Timberwolves coach Roy Perkins was less than thrilled with having to play MC, which dropped down from D-III earlier this season due to the state bowl restructuring.

“Here’s a spectacular 11-0 football team that has to experience an unfair end to the season, which becomes a very negative thing,” Perkins said. “We’ve got a kid with a broken leg and a kid with a knee injury because we are on the field with a team that we should have never been on the field with. They’re a great D-III team that decides to drop down and play D-IV. There’s something wrong with this system.”

Sour grapes, coach Perkins?

You didn't hear a peep from the Fortuna coach. When I suggested about a month ago that they were a worthy candidate as a #1 seed, people were up in arms. Complaints that they played nobody, that their road win over Orland was no big deal, derisively calling them Fortunate. I'm glad that people are seeing that the Huskies weren't a fluke.

The Huskies earned a lot of respect last night.

Thanks for that info. I didn't know that. Newman needs to just keep winning and hopefully they catch a break or 2.

not sure Marin can score 49 on Moreau, the most they have given up was 34 to a super motivated StMarys last week but average allowing about 7 a game, and yes Ison will get his which means some big plays. I think Marin traditionally struggles with athletic fast teams--Encinal,El cerritto in past few years. I am taking MC(moreau) in upset 42-21.

Not quite lol but yeah good game overall I wasn't overly impressed with either team, Moreau is too one dimensional and Marin Catholic too many first down mistakes which put them second and long, Peterson is great but he takes too many gambles in the pocket which almost cost them this game

Marin made a lot of mistakes last week early on ( dumb penalties etc.) but it didn'tcost them.

Peterson does take some chances, but he's going to have to. Interesting to see who steps up next week for MC and Newman. Peterson and Brookshire make them both go, but someone will have to step up on one side. Newman has more speed and a better offense.MC is more physical, has overall better line play and a better defense.

One thing I know for a fact is that Brookshire will have 100-125 just on scrambles, MC has never ever ever ever even in their best years able to stop athletic Qbs from scrambling

CN RB Ortola has been playing well the last two weeks. He took charge of Newman offense last night with very strong running and 4 TDs. Tough player. He will be a factor next week.

That is true! They made Corey Willison look like Usain Bolt!

Bella, I'm not sure what happened to your previous Avatar, but the new one is a little disturbing.

Sounds like both Newman and MC got great games. Always good to be in a game going into a champ match. If Willison was about 6"1 he probably would have been playing big time college football. I remember watching that kid going how the hell is he doing that. Wasn't he only like 5"8 but built like 200 lbs?

Going to be a great game next week. I have to somehow get out of some dinner date thing my wife has planned. Help me!!

Larry...

May I suggest you go grab your balls out of your wife's purse and tell her you want to go to the game. ;-)

Ha ha…. I know… uggh! Any thoughts on this one? Was this a wakeup call that Newman needed? I didn't hear as much about Marin Catholic this year.

Basically MC will have the Advantage up front they have some big athletic guys on the lines, they have a play making Qb who is their biggest weapon but don't have a speed back or speed WRs......that said their WRs are solid and are all decent at catching the ball......defensively they are sound, good secondary and i think CN will need to beat them on the ground......MC is terrible at containing speedy QBs so Brookshire will get at least a 100 on the ground even if it's on broken plays.MC has a really nice kicking game.....overall MC will be the stronger team up front and CN will be the faster team on the edges

Do you think that CC and the winner of this game are locked in??? That is should CC get by Oakdale for a second time this season. Now that Sutter has more football to play I have to figure out my road trip for next weekend as well.

Yes if CC wins they will play the winner of this game for sure

You're screwed; like a trapped varmint it would be easier to chew off your typing hands at the wrists if the dinner is at your place. If the dinner is at home playing the 1) sick card or 2) working late card are useless. Sure the food and company will be great.......wink-wink.
You'll just have to be like Captain Kirk and have Scotty fire up the recorders for late night viewing.

Primo, gonna be a great weekend of HS playoffs next weekend...........where do we send our condolences?

Tell her late Friday you're having some doubts about the relationship. "It's not you, its me" and your a little confused about "everything". Tell her you are going for a drive on Saturday to think things over and clear the air. Come home later Saturday /early Sunday morning after the game and tell her false alarm and she is really the one. Maybe a quick stop at the local Chevron or Shell before you come home and pick up one of those fancy single roses wrapped in cling wrap. She'll be so happy with you she'll forget about the dinner you flaked on.

And after you roll with this plan I have a solution that will help you find a good divorce attorney in your area at no cost.

I think MC is more physical up front on both sides of the ball. But I think overall CN has the better skill players.
I have seen MC play twice this year and have yet to see a sustained drive by the offense. It has been
3 and out, 3 and out..and BAM!! 70 yd. TD...then 3 and out,3 and out...BAM 65 yd. td.
For CN to win this game they need to keep MC and their stud QB from the big strike. Force MC to put together long
sustained drives. I wasn't real impressed with either team this last weekend to be honest. But I guess it does say something about both teams that they were still able to win without playing their best.

I cant wait for Saturday night...
