I am at Placer High’s wonderful Hoosiers-like gym

Right now, the Antelope freshmen are boatracing Placer’s frosh…. was 54-12 at the half, running clock entire 2nd…

66-12 at the 3:25 mark 4th.

But this gym…. Pure magic! If you haven’t been here, you don’t know…. But this place is a total must.

Antelope pitches a 2nd-half shutout…. 70-12 final. Yipe.

Looked at the JV records, and this game might be pretty good, same for the varsity.

Well… It *was* brewing…. Now 50-34 Antelope nearing 2 minutes left in the 3rd.

Placer varsity is ranked slightly higher in the state rankings right now…. Can they live up to it and avoid the 3-team sweep?

Antelope is 8-2, and their #102 state and #13 section ranking doesn’t include their last win, a blowout of Del Oro.

Placer is 7-1, ranked #81 state and #9 section.

So this may be an important early-season game for seedings later on…

The two teams’ strength-of-schedule ratings are quite close, in the high 6’s.

One common opponent: Del Oro, which Antelope thumped by 31 on Friday, and Placer beat by 11, I think…

Antelope’s spped and bounce is a problem, score is 11-4 Antelope…. But their centers have 2 fouls apiece, and the 3rd C doesn’t look all that goos…

As I was typing, the Hillmen made it 11-8…

And now it’s 14-11 Antelope.

Can’t say “warm the bus up” because it’s a Placer home game…. but even with 1:31 left, this is all but over.

81-68 was the final…. I tried and failed to record them doing their Alma Mater thing, and the was wiped off before I got a chance to look at it…

Meanwhile, I seem to have caught a cold, and it got worse by the time I got home….

Pumped full of over-the-counter cold remedies, can’t sleep…. hence this 1:47 am post.
