St Ignatius got off to a 15-11 lead. All SHC since then and they lead 41-23 at the half. Tons of SHC layups. Too athletic for SI

Had a feeling it would be this type of game. The team that got hot and raced out to a big lead and then hung on but SH really showing off now by not letting up. Guess SI had this one coming to them after a string of blowouts in previous years because of superior players.

SHC cannot make an outside shot, but their offensive rebounding and speed to the basket makes them tough to beat.

If they can’t shoot, they will not get a good result against bigger teams like Bellarmine, Riordan and Mitty in league play.

who is bruce mahoney

It's not a person, but a trophy named after 2 people killed in WWII.

Bruce–Mahoney Trophy
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bruce–Mahoney Trophy is a trophy awarded annually to the winner of an annual sports competition series between Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory and St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco, California. The rivalry began with a Thanksgiving day football game in 1892. The two Catholic high schools are longtime cross-town rivals. The trophy was inaugurated in 1947 and is named in honor of Bill Bruce and Jerry Mahoney, each an alumnus exclusively representing one of the schools, both of whom were killed in World War II.

The two schools play against each other in football, basketball, and baseball. In the latter two sports, where the teams play more than one game, only the first game counts towards winning the trophy. The trophy goes to the school that wins in two out of three sports.

St. Ignatius has won the trophy a total of 51 times and Sacred Heart Cathedral has won the trophy 21 times through 2018–2019.[1][2] The longest period of time either school has held the trophy is 12 years, by St. Ignatius (1974–1985).

St. Ignatius College Preparatory is the current holder of the trophy, winning it in the 2018-19 season.
