They’ve got some already-planned event taking up the big gym, so here we are….

Little gym, stands on one side only, sorta like Salesian, but a little bigger…

Anyone wanting tp get here for the boys game only might find things a bit crowded…

I’ll be back on this side later, but will jump to the girls’ forum and do my thing over there. :)

Girls game went to SI nipping Vanden in overtime…

Boys’ teams are on the floor…

Lincoln is 26-5, SI 21-7…. I’ve seen both teams two or three times this year, they’re darned good…. Should be a heck of a matchup!

Crazy amount of stuff going on tonight Kiddman32.
Numerous games have been stopped and/or moved due to an East Bay Power Outage

I got Stockton by 5 in this one!

SI #3 hits a corner 3 to start things…

Backdoor pass makes it 5-0…

Lincoln might need to settle down a lttle.

Byrd beats a double-team with a spin move and lays it up…. 8-2.

Lincoln steals an entry pass and roars down court to score…. 8-4.

3:33 left. Lincoln with another steal…. Dunk try by Byrd is BLOCKED…. held ball to Trojans.

SI with a stop…

SI scores , short Kinnealy J. Lincoln turnover…. Corner 3 goes down! 13-4. Nice post move for Anthony Warren, 13-6.

Lincoln steal, Byrd races down, fouled. Lincoln ball baseline.

Long Byrd 3 misses, Lincoln foul on the rebound. 30 seconds…. SI pass inside, foul, Squier at the line for SI. FT’s both good.

LONG Lincoln try at the buzzer…. GOOD!!!! But waved off, got it off too late. 15-6 after 1 quarter.

Lincoln 3-ball missed, Lincoln foul on the rebound. SI 3-ball aslo doesn’t go, foul on SI.

Nice baseline move for Andre Warren of Lincoln…. 15-8.

Quanico hits a long 3 for SI! 18-6.

#23 drives and scores for SI…20-6. 4:16 left in the half.

Missed a bucket somewhere… 20-8.

Driving Lincoln score, Andre Warren. 20-10.

@3 of SI hits a 3…. 23-10.

Wild Lincoln pass goes out ouf bounds…. time out. 23-10, 3:26 left in the half.

SI moves it around, like 10 passes…. drive and a foul. FT’s split. 24-10.

Lincoln’s freshman, Lindsay, hits a short J. 24-12. 2:12 left.

Terrific pass and score by SI…. 26-12.

Lincoln slip and travel.

1:33 left.

Quanico hits a floater for SI…. 28-12.

Byrd fouled going up (allegedly, didn’t look like it from here). FT’s both missed…. Rebound tries, no go…. and that’s the half. 28-12 SI.

More than a bit surprising that it’s not close…. Hopefully Lincoln can figure out something during the break.

I hear the fat lady is rehearsing with the San Francisco Symphony out in the school auditorium…. But that might be premature. :)

Nice baseline dribe by Warren for Lincoln…. 28-14…. Lincoln steal! SI foul on the floor. Another SI foul…. this is starting the way Lincoln needs it to. Byrd at the line, sinks two. 28-16.

Lincoln STEAL…. Layup! 28-18…. Byrd was flying over for the putback, didn’t need it, it went in.

SI turnover…. Byrd pass to #35 for a 3…. GOOD! 28-21.

Long 3 by SI’s Rivera…. Good! 31-21.

SI foul, Lincoln’s Warren shook up a little, but goes to the line for 2…. SI calls time out. 5:45 left, this one has gotten a LOT more interesting.

FT’s by Warren, both good. 31-23.

Lincoln rebounds a miss… long pass to Byrd… he takes it in and jams it home! 31-25.

SI with an offensive foul…. 4:50 left in the 3rd.

Byrd with a nifty move, 2 more…. 31-27.

Byrd forces a held ball. SI keeps it. 4:24 left 3rd.

Terrific set of moves to score for SI’s #11…. Lincoln breaks the press, but travels underneath. 33-27.

Moving screen on SI….

But Byrd loses it in the key and SI goes all the way and scores. 35-27. SI foul, Warren has 2 shots. splits ‘em. 35-28.

2:55 left 3rd…. Warren’s 4th foul for Lincoln.

Kinnealy with a series of moves leading to a twisting layup…. then Lincoln fouls trying to rebound a miss. 37-28. 1:34 left 3rd, time out Wildcats.

Greaat move by SI’s #11 to score…. and Lincoln with an offensive foul. 39-28, 1:01 left 3rd.

Byrd steals, takes a 3, no go. Lincoln foul on the rebound.

And that’s the quarter…. 39-28, the SI fans going with the “overrated” chant.

Terrific post move by Kinnealy…. 41-28.

Lincoln flies down the court, Byrd fouled, darn near left the building after the contact. FT’s split. 41-29.

LIncoln forces a travel with a trap…

But they lose the ball off the dribble.

SI #23 at the line after a foul…. misses front end… but they steal it from Byrd and score…. 43-29. Another steal, Byrd with a hard foul, apparently…. Technical awarded. 2 shots and the ball…. I hear the conductor calling the orchestra to the stand…. Wait, now it’s not a T. Common foul on the shot…. #11 at the line, sinks one. 44-29.

6:13, Lincoln scores inside, fouled…. FT missed. 44-31.

Warren with a dunk after an SI score, 46-33. 5:33 left.

Kinnealy spin move, but he travels.

Lincoln 3-ball, no go…. out of bounds to SI.

SI turns it over whilest trying to run off some clock…

Byrd 3, no go…. Lincoln renound, but out of bounds. Time out Wildcats when it looked like they were gonna have an easy dunk…. but it’s 46-33 with 4 minutes left.

Lincoln’s going to need a number of stops, and score just about every time down now…

Lincoln, after an offensive rebound, long possession… hits a 3. 49-33, 3:03 left.

I can hear that singer and smell bus fumes now…

SI steals the inbounds pass…. #23 fouled by Byrd. FT’s split…. 50-33. 2:44 left now, this baby’s over.

Y’all can find the final score in a bit…. I’m getting ready to split the scene.

Surprised on the final score and how SI appeared to be in control throughout. Didn’t Lincoln take Campo to the brink a few weeks ago?

Yes they did - buzzer beater by Campo to win by one. I am shocked the gritty lil Cats had it in them. Maybe the WCAL wasn't as weak of a league this year as I thought! The Cats also have an early season win over Miramonte on their resume. WCAL grind tends to toughen up the teams for post-season no doubt!

SI this year is tough — I think they have a new coach and system maybe? They have been more like how I traditionally think of Bellarmine, in a way: Strong players, great execution of an effective system, balanced scoring, scrappy and diligent D. Unless you catch them on an off shooting night, which can happen occasionally as they are heavy on 3s, they are hard to deal with.

Penguin, hats off to St. Francis this season. Seems this team has been bitten by the injury bug the past two seasons. I was really looking forward to seeing Lancer freshman, Dallas Washington, play significant minutes. Any particular reason he did not have a significant amount of playing time - particularly in the latter part of league and post season?

It has been a wild ride between injuries and COVID shutdowns for sure — for everybody but it did hit SFHS hard. Throughout league I think there were maybe 3 or 4 games with all starters playing.

I’m not privy to any decisionmaking re playing time, just a parent of a senior (Isaiah Kerr is my kid and he was certainly part of the injury/COVID rollercoaster, coming out of minor knee surgery last fall). I do know historically SFHS has not been high on even including freshmen on varsity or anywhere other than freshman teams, preferring to have them start and grow chemistry with their own cohort, so it was a little unique for it to be an option. Dallas is a great player and kid; my senior said it’s a shame they weren’t closer in grade level to get to play more together. I’m sure Dallas will do some awesome things going forward!

All the best to Isaiah starting his new chapter @ Montana next year.

Thanks. I’m sad high school basketball is over for our family (off 3 point shooting night last night for SFHS team against Branson ended it — plus credit to their freshman who shot the lights out and team played well). It’s a great stage of life and sport. Btw, enjoy your comments and the general existence of this board. Somebody sent me a link to this place at some point and it’s been a nice way to peek in on the broader Bay Area basketball stuff — fun to see the teams and keep loose track of the kids that have all run up against each other for years in AAU etc. Rooting for Riordan and SI now! ;)

The buzzer beater put back by Cade was to break the tie. Had it missed, the game would have gone to OT (AKA Free Basketball!).

This is Coach Greenfield's second season at SI and a vast improvement from the previous coach. This year's team is comprised of 12 seniors that won WCAL their freshman year and have grown together. Next year they return 6"7" John Squire and nothing else. It will be interesting to see how the coach adjusts.

I thought Rob did a good job at SI. SI's team never looked not well prepared and I thought they played hard for him. They did have some nice players / teams during his tenure and he beat his cross-town rivals more often than not. This year's team has gelled it appears at the right time and appears to be well coached though.

SI had a great run with Rob @ coach when he had Trammel and that talented crew... Interesting that King left for Riordan when Greenfield came on board, then making way for Quanico to transfer to SI from Riordan.
Riordan benefitted with longtime SI JV and varsity assistant coach, Kareem Guilbeaux, joining Coach Curtin's staff this season. He's got a great rapport with the players and runs a youth development program. Riordan has several coaches and staff that run youth and HS basketball programs in the City as well - both boys and girls basketball.
