This note was in Bruce Feldman's weekly Big Picture article. Even out due to injury, Scooby Wright's (Cardinal Newman) stock is growing.

Arizona, which won the Pac-12 South last season, averaged 464 yards a game in 2014. This season, the 'Cats leads the conference in total offense at 535 and yet, ’Zona is going to struggle just to get bowl eligible. Another reason why linebacker Scooby Wright — out for almost this entire season due to injury — is so valuable.

Had to bump this. Wright is a classic example of NFL scouts falling in love with things that don't always correlate with the game. Wright's stock has plummeted since he ran a 4.9. Yet you watch the game film and the guy is everywhere. Time will tell. I think he will had a solid pro career. I read somewhere that a scout compared him to Zach Thomas. I think this is a sleeper pick like Borland where the guy can just play. I see some Sean Lee (hopefully without the injuries) in Wright. A guy who knows the game, sees things unfold faster than average, and reacts faster. Maybe he cant run in a straight line without pads as other guys but he can play the game.

Zach Thomas type is exactly is what I have always thought of Scooby (i.e. A football player).

Damn, don't know how well Scooby would look in teal for the fins :D!

I think he'd look damn good playing next to Kiko Alonso. They need another linebacker. Not so oddly, a popular comparison for Scooby I keep seeing is Zach Thomas. We all know who he played for ...

Great comparison Bella/Thunder. How about that "hacked" twitter account for Tunsil? They put a $8M price tag on that. ouch.....

The whole Tunsil debacle was pure gold. First the shoes, then the bong video, followed by text messages with coaches about payments. Then his press conference. Excellent training video for you athletes, parents, coaches, agents, etc. Hope this guy pulls his head out and quick of course the odds don't look good with him landing in Miami.

To call this a brain fart is a huge understatement. I have a friend who's a Dolphin fan and he's thrilled, as I would be if I were a Phins fan. Without all the hoopla, he probably lands somewhere far worse than Miami.

I would be flat out bummed if I was a Phins fan. Reports were out that only about 10 teams had this guy on their board. I wonder how many of them were winning organization Pack, Steelers, Pats, Etc......or was it the teams that always get their own way. Phins, Browns,Skins, etc.

He's one of the most physically gifted offensive linemen I have ever seen and a complete steal at 13 with or without bong!

Everybody is gifted at this level. Character is more important than his physical gifts. It has played out many many times before him and will after him. Character is the most important component it plays out that way time and again.

I'm a big fan of character but falling in the draft didn't seem to hurt Hall of Famer Warren Sapp and some others. Go back and watch Tunsil's film and tell me he's not special. What he did was dumb ass and he's paying for it to the tune of $8 million but to say he isn't far and away the best offensive lineman in this draft is simply not paying attention.

1. I never said he wasn't the best lineman in the draft no idea where you got that. 2. No falling in the draft didn't hurt Sapp, Marino, Moss, etc, but the list is much longer of players where character concerns cost teams than those who had character issue helped teams. And that is the point. 3. I'm not a fan of my team taking a risk on a player with character issues in the early rounds. Some folks it doesn't bother I get it, but the teams that always seem to be at or near the top don't seem to do this. Teams that do, don't seem to compete year after year.

If I'm sitting there at #13 with a chance to get a top 5 guy who will eventually if not right away be a franchise left tackle to protect my quarterback, I'm taking him as long as he didn't murder his mom.

Again thats you and I respect that. Clearly it's the Phins position as well. Mine is you take reach if at all possible with top early round picks. It's a reach in terms of character on this player, period. For a team that hasn't won it all in 4 decades it was a risk worth taking.

^^^^^should read don't reach at all if possible^^^^^^^ not the gibberish I wrote. Need to proof read I guess

Scooby will be a gem wherever he lands. He will be determined to be great in the NFL.

^^^ Still can't believe he's last this long. He and Booker fell further than I expected.

Wright was close to being Mr. Irrelevant. While it's nice to say that you got drafted, it would have ultimately been better that he went undrafted than get selected where he did. He could have selected the team that he wanted or fit in best with. Oh well. Here's hoping he catches on with the Browns and makes his mark.

Booker #136 to Denver. I can see Booker doing big things in that Denver offense.

Me too. The NFL network guys were gushing over him. One of them had Booker as #40 overall and Mayock had him at #51. I really can't believe he fell to the end of the 4th. Makes no sense to me.

My Dolphins needed a well-rounded 3 down back badly yet went with an injury plagued 3rd down specialist in Kenyan Drake in the 3rd round. Booker would have been a much better fit, IMO, as he does everything Adam Gase looks for in his RB's. Great in pass protection, great pass receiver and a pretty good pure runner too.

I realize that these guys are better qualified to know which types of players likely fit their schemes best, but I still believe Miami is going to regret passing on Devontae. I think a lot of teams might regret passing on Scooby too.

As long as Wright can stuff the run, there should be a spot for him. Alozo was a stud in high school at Los Gatos. He was a prototype LB at the college level in high school. I remember an incredible playoff game with Palma's David Fales (Chicaogo Bears) and Alnzo, Palma lost in last minute on a drive fumble by Fales after scrambling. His knee was down from my view but was caed fumble. Alonzo was fast and hit with the best of them - very physically gifted. Wright kind of reminds me of a throwback ILB in the Jack "Hacksaw" Reynolds era. Tough, intense and has incredible feel for the game - like the position was made for him. His ability to cover the pass will be a question mark but at inside some can be made up with just getting to the right place. Wouldn't be surprised if he has a good career. Fun high school player to watch.
