Lincoln @ Stagg game called at Halftime

I don't know if it could be called any type of rivalry...

Owning someone from Stockton is kind of like beating up your little sister...

:):):):):):):):):):)

Easy way to break this "disagreement"....Ask the following:

If you had $2 Million and only a choice between Folsom or Stockton (with absolutely no reason keeping you fixed on either location - ie. family ties), where would you live?

Edit: My choice - Folsom (coming from a person who lives in Dublin)

Obviously my answer is SUPER JADED. So, we won't go there ;)

But, others should weigh in!

Tell us :)

Of those two, Folsom. Been through it, very nice place as far as I could see in a brief glance. Can't say the same for Stockton, except maybe for a couple small areas that really don't represent the overall "feel" of the city. But I'd actually rather move back to Oregon than live anywhere in CA. Someday, maybe...

As far as this lil pissing match: G61, making a statement or argument and then claiming you've "owned" someone doesn't win. Doesn't work that way. Either the one who has lost the argument/conflict admits it or an impartial third party makes the call, unless it's an actual physical contest in which one can knock out, pin, or outscore an opponent.

No doubt that Folsom is a nicer place overall than Stockton, but nobody has "won" anything here, nor "owns" anyone or even just this pissing match.

Now, if you two wanna meet at a reasonably neutral site and duke it out, then go ahead. I won't be attending. :)

I wanted to quickly comment on the schools in both areas, since bulldogmgc boasted about sending his kids to private school. According to him, Stockton is an amazing place, but not amazing enough to send his schools to the public schools there. The omission warranted a further review. And, upon further review, I was able to pull up the ratings for BOTH Folsom public high schools against St. Mary's Stockton (Private School). Here they are:

St. Mary's High School
Overall
Niche Grade Details
Grades:
9-12
Students:
976
Type:
Private, Religious
Religion:
Catholic
Reviews:
99 3.9
Ranking:
289th in CA
Folsom High School
Overall
Niche Grade Details
Grades:
9-12
Students:
1,994
Type:
Public
Reviews:
284 4.0
Ranking:
104th in CA

Vista Del Lago High School
Overall
Niche Grade Details
Grades:
9-12
Student:
1,433
Type:
Public
Reviews:
143 3.7
Ranking:
170th in CA

Now, from these numbers (which I did not author), it shows that BOTH of our PUBLIC SCHOOLS outrank St. Mary's Stockton (Private School). Meaning, the FREE schooling we get in Folsom is BETTER than the PRIVATE SCHOOLING that you would receive in Stockton.

Tuition for St. Marys: Between $8340 and $8740. You get a discount for being Catholic at this school ;)
Tuition for Folsom OR Vista Del Lago: ZERO

Bulldogmgc- It looks like you are being screwed brother! ;) Your money would be much better spent in a nice community that has free education and that can also send your kid to the very same college. Looks like someone missed the bus during economics class! :):):):)

For muck's sake...Why don't you and Bulldog just take selfie's of your "one-eyed trouts" and post them already????....

I find it funny that "bulldogmgc" named himself after the Folsom Bulldog mascot.

For someone with so much hatred for Folsom, I found this extremely comical :)

Worked in Folsom for 5 years for a company that has a location in Stockton as well. I have ran into some snobs in Folsom but I have ran into some nut cases in Stockton. The Folsom location is diamonds while the Stockton location is the worse in the company when it comes to cliental. No comparison, Folsom to live and Stockton to leave.

I'd pick Stockton if and only if it were somewhere on the Delta and I had a boat dock to tie up a bass boat and fish every day.

LOL, you can't be serious!? ;)

And I would totally pick McDonalds over a 5 star restaurant. Absolutely ;)

Give me $2 million, give me $5 million, it does not matter. I did not grow up in Stockton. I grew up in San Mateo county in a place called Hillsborough, and attended San Mateo High School, left for SoCal to attend USC. I moved to Stockton because my wife, who I met in Glendale/Burbank, has her family all in Stockton. At first, like many of you, I was saying WTF! This is not a place to raise a family. However, after getting married in beautiful Morris Chapel (1 year waiting list), learning about the NICER (yes, very few) places in Stockton, and able to purchase a beautiful house on a lake for 1/5 the amount it would cost us if we lived in Hillsborough, not to mention the lifelong property taxes, and most of all living amongst "family" vs "snobs", I would say we are quite content where we are. I don't need a mansion to be happy. Been there done that, and wasn't always so happy living in a huge house. But, I do live the finer life in Stockton (2600 sq ft house on a lake, where I don't need a fishing license to fish) and make the best of it, as bad as the surrounding areas are. As a former boss (son-in-law to the Klein's) once said to me when I put in my pool using Geremia ... if it's good enough for Spanos, I guess it is good enough for you.

You guys only focus on the negative parts of Stockton. That's a shame. If I can't sell you the finer parts of Stockton, I really don't care. I know Folsom has its nice parts and close to nice neighborhoods like Roseville and Granite Bay. I have very good friends from Roseville whose kids attended Granite Bay (when they lived in Granite Bay). Managing my business from home and checking into the office (in San Ramon) once a week, sure I could do from a place in Folsom. But, don't need that commute. But, I have long-time friends here in Stockton (good people). I have family (my wife's) here in Stockton (good people). I know what it is like to being amongst snobs, I grew up with them. Trust me! My family still lives in Hillsborough and siblings in surrounding areas of San Mateo, like San Carlos, Redwood City, Millbrae, and Foster City. Yes, I grew up with a big Catholic family. I enjoy visiting with them, but I can't stand living with them or being too close to them. Hence, why I left for SoCal for college. Sure, USC is not in the best place in CA (So Central LA) and sure, there are tons of snobs attending this school, but there were some good people there, too, from other places outside of California I can still call friends. I have my degree from USC and live a very comfortable life in a place I am proud to call "home". Will I move and start over? Maybe, if my boys settle down and move to somewhere else, I might follow them. But, for now, why move to a place where I only know a few people and away from family? Family (which I also call my friends) is what has me rooted here in Stockton, really nothing more. Ask Alex Spanos why he "still" lives in Stockton. I bet you he would give you a very similar answer. You don't see him moving to Folsom and he has a whole lot more than $2 million. Now do you?

I am well aware of the crime issues in Stockton. But, I am not a coward that runs away from issues. Crime is everywhere, just more so in many parts of Stockton (but not all parts). Look at the heat maps I posted in my prior post. What do you see? You see crime in Stockton and Folsom, just a lot more in Stockton, especially in the low income areas. But, you see a lot of safe (green) areas, too. If you gave me $2 million and asked me to move into a low income area of Stockton, of course, I would say "NO WAY!". But, what I can get for $2 million where I live now, I have already. More so, I have wonderful friends and family. Unless you can move all of my friends and all of my family to Folsom, it's a NO for me. I don't want to be G61's neighbor ... HELL NO! I grew up with enough Richard's in my life in Hillsborough. Sorry, not for me. Ask the DLS fans if they want G61 for a neighbor. LOL!

If I had a choice between Folsom or Roseville, I would pick Roseville. Although, I love my cousins in Folsom, I love my friends in Roseville more. Just more friendlier people in Roseville than Folsom from my visits. Ask my cousins if they know their neighbors. The answer would be "NO". Ask me if I know my neighbors, you betcha! Just finished this past weekend with our annual lake chili cookout. It was a blast!

BTW. Did I mention the "ignore" button works wonders. So G61, if you are reading this, post away. I really don't care. LOL! Dang! I wish I had this when I grew up in Hillsborough. LOL! Oh wait, I did. I moved to Glendale and attended USC. Go USC Trojans! Go St. Mary's Rams!

I'd pick Stockton if and only if it were somewhere on the Delta and I had a boat dock to tie up a bass boat and fish every day.

Close. I live on a lake and fish "every day" ... no fishing license needed as WE homeowners own the lake. I have my 16' pontoon boat (electric motor) and my hobie kayak to fish from, too. My wife paddleboards (not me). I catch my share of big mouth bass and sometime catfish, too. It's a nice life living on a lake and not have to pay too big a property tax. Trust me!

Very funny that you post a crime "heat map" to illustrate your contention that Stockton can even compare to Folsom as it pertains to crime.

What you fail to mention is that "heat map" only illustrates all crimes being committed in any given area. You also fail to mention that the crimes being committed in these "heat areas" of Stockton are MURDERS, RAPES, and other FELONIES!!! In Folsom, if ONE of these things happened it would be huge news. We generally have small property crimes (larceny, burglary, etc..). Even those petty crimes pale in comparison to the crime index in Stockton. Comparing the two cities is like trying to compare KMART to Macy's. Big difference bud.

So, Roseville over Folsom? Good luck with that one. Go look at the price per sq. ft of homes in both places and get back to me. Go see where houses last one day on the market and get back to me. Folsom is a VERY HARD PLACE TO BUY A HOUSE. You can go buy a standard stucco tract home in Roseville at the drop of a dime.

As I have said before, please do your research before posting. Then maybe next time you won't embarrass yourself by making such outrageous claims ;)

I can and can't believe this thread is nearing the 100 post mark. Keep in mind G61 had a thread ragging on Sonoma County a few months back. To each their own I say.

Living right across from Folsom Lake is MUCH better than living on a pond in Stockton ;)

Per CA State Parks website:
"Located at the base of the Sierra foothills, the lake and recreation area offers opportunities for hiking, biking, running, camping, picnicking, horseback riding, water-skiing and boating. Fishing offers trout, catfish, big and small mouth bass or perch. Visitors can also see the Folsom Powerhouse (once called "the greatest operative electrical plant on the American continent"), which from 1885 to 1952 produced 11,000 volts of electricity for Sacramento residents. For cyclists, there is a 32-mile long bicycle path that connects Folsom Lake with many Sacramento County parks before reaching Old Sacramento. The park also includes Lake Natoma, downstream from Folsom Lake, which is popular for crew races, sailing, kayaking and other aquatic sports."

Comparing a place like that to Stockton is absolutely criminal ;)

Is it North Lake? I'd only prefer the Delta because of the size of the place and the fish you can catch there...it was rated the #2 fishery in the country this year for a reason!

If my only options were Folsom and Stockton, 100% serious! Now if there were other places on the Delta I could choose from besides Stockton, I'd probably pick another place, but I was limited to just two choices here...

Lol apparently you've never been to Folsom. I just told the 2 people I'm with that there is this guy in here "claiming" he would pick Stockton OVER Folsom. They are about to pee their pants lol.

Someone else please weigh in here. This dude is nuts ;)

There's no way you have ever been to Folsom by making that choice.

If you have, tell me where you went.

Something smells fishy here ;)

Exactly, something is definitely fishy here. Who in there right mind would chose to live in Stockton over Folsom in this day and time. Like I said in my earlier post, Folsom has a lot of ignorant snobs but Stockton has more thugs with guns than the law can handle. Snobs can be scared straight. That shit don't work with thugs with guns. To make a long story short, I would rather run into a Folsom snob than a Stockton thug with a gun. Common freak'n sense chaps...

My moms cousin teaches at UOP and Iives there. He jokes about it, but understands why no one ever visits him.

He likes it so much he sends his kid to school via the ACE to Bellarmine.

I called Hatchball out a few times on these forums, so no doubt he is attempting to disagree just to disagree.

No way he's ever been to Folsom.

Comparing the two is like comparing Rosie O'Donnell to Jennifer Anniston.

Nah I've been to Folsom a few times to visit a friend up there near Empire Ranch, it's a nice area for sure but I'd rather live in a place with a boat dock with access to the CA Delta anyday - Stockton, Oakley, Antioch, you name it.

Near Empire Ranch? Sounds fishy. You got that neighborhood name from this thread. Please elaborate. :)

You've def never been here. Lol

Called out!;)

No he lives about a quarter mile west, I couldn't find his subdivision on Google maps but saw Empire Ranch about a 1/4 mile to the east, so just called it Empire Ranch. Yeesh, you want his name and phone number too? He actually was born and raised in Stockton though, settled down in Folsom.

Sounds like your friend made a wise decision.

Ha, the other week I was hanging out with his brother and he mentioned how he drove by the school they both went to growing up, I forget if it was Jr High or High School, where when they were kids everyone would just ride their bikes around and play baseball in the fields, and nowadays the fields are empty and he saw some armed security patrolling the place and was thinking "wtf happened to our school"

Talking about Stockton or Folsom?

Well he said that he was born and raised in stockton, and then proceeded to tell you about how its changed and there is armed security there now... So yes Stockton

It is actually really sad when you think about it. Stockton was a nice, middle class city, to live in at one point in time. Many cities in CA have taken a bad turn, many of them in the central valley. But honestly, I have seen many similar bad things floating up to the North Bay. Heck, the last time I was in Santa Rosa, I was SHOCKED at what some of those areas have become. Just sad.
