Major props to the DLS program.

Every high school team has non 4 star recruits. Even your hallowed schools of the south. The reality is that they are the core of your team. If your counting on your best athletes to define your team your heading toward a disappointing season. Both trinity and dls had great players that has nothing to do with dropped balls or poor tackling. Just as I'm sure trinity's coach was wondering how those pedestrian receivers were getting wide open and dropping the ball. To use this argument to suggest that dls shouldn't schedule teams from the south because of their skill players is shortsighted, faulty logic at best but more likely simple ignorance. To suggest that the performance of dls embarrasses California high school football is an idea that can only be held by an idiot. Their performance itself negates the supposition. Bet you can't find one coach that wouldn't scoff at such stupidity. Merry Christmas
My debate teacher in college explained to his students that as soon as someone starts slurring words of disrespect he/she loses the debate. So I'll take the lessons from my debate coach and move on because you want see me use "simple ignorance or idiot" when the points I made are factual. I don't have time to drop the "I" bomb on you to start an argument over what I've seen for my own eyes. I'm from Cali and I'd be the first person to want DLS to beat these teams from the South but until they get better athletes in the skill positions they will struggle beating the South best. Now you can argue with yourself with the DLS excuses to why the Southern teams beat them.

Have no idea why that reposted. In any case, I want to be clear that the slurring began when you suggested that 17 year old kids performance on a football field was an embarrassment to the state of California's high school football programs. Especially since these teams have won seven state titles. If they play better in game 1 they go wire to wire as national champions. Football is about creating match ups and execution. If you have players you trust and can put them in situations where they can respond to challenges, you go find the best teams and compete. There is value in putting them in the fray and challenging them to respond. It helps them become men. More importantly, it's just high school football. It matters when it's happening, after that, it's kids being friends. Adults thinking otherwise can ruin it, of that I'm sure.

I want to be clear that the slurring began when you suggested that 17 year old kids performance on a football field was an embarrassment to the state of California's high school football programs. It is an embarrassment when you live in the south and you're from Cali. It's hard defending Cali football when DLS lays an egg against these superior talented southern football programs. You don't live out here so you don't here the talk about how over rated DLS and Cali football is. Especially since these teams have won seven state titles. We not talking about California state titles...we're talking about getting beat by very athletic programs in the south. If they play better in game 1 they go wire to wire as national champions. if "IF" was a fifth, we all be drunk. Football is about creating match ups and execution. That's right and DLS don't matchup with these southern skill position athletes. If you have players you trust and can put them in situations where they can respond to challenges, you go find the best teams and compete. Yes this is true...they compete but they very seldom win because they lack elite talent at the skill positions. There is value in putting them in the fray and challenging them to respond. It helps them become men. More importantly, it's just high school football. It matters when it's happening, after that, it's kids being friends. Adults thinking otherwise can ruin it, of that I'm sure. This right here sounds like a big excuse to me. I'm sure the folks in the south would view this the same as I do. Either you bring a very talented team out south that will win or stay home or better yet on the porch. Stop with the excuses because I'm not buying them.

So your solution is not to play them. Where r u guys in playing premiere teams? Why don't try playing them or beating dls? Why r u embarrassed? What stake do you have in any of this? You don't play, you don't coach, yet claim some kind of ownership of what teams that play over 300 miles away should be doing.
Furthermore, I didn't offer any excuses for their loss, as a matter of fact I said they didn't play well enough to win.
I have an idea since dls kicked the shit of 4 SoCal teams call cif and tell them not to send another team to state until they don't lay an egg. It's too embarrassing.
Finally, no one in Cali cares about your standing with your friends. No one asked you to be a spokesman or defend ca high school football. If your standing with your friends depends on that you guys have too much time on your hands

btw, who cares if dls loses out of state? What area are you living in? Hopefully they know important stuff is happening off the gridiron and that we're all part of the same Union.

So your solution is not to play them. Yes, unless they get elite skill players that can matchup with these very athletic southern players. And yes, Cali has these types of players they're just not on DLS campus. Where r u guys in playing premiere teams? Over the past ten years the Georgia programs has owned Florida football. Why don't try playing them or beating dls? I'm sure they're not afraid to play DLS if they can beat Florida's elite teams. Why r u embarrassed? Like I said in my last post...I'm from Cali and it's embarrassing to have no defense when these country bumpkins rag on Cali football in general because of DLS losing to them. What stake do you have in any of this? I played Pop Warner, High School and College ball in Cali. I'm proud of my Cali football roots but if you don't have the horses to compete with these Southern powerhouses stay in Cali. Not bragging but a cat like me would have made the difference in that game against Trinity because that kid that missed catchable balls would be sitting on the bench. Watching my highlight reel on ESPN Dabbing on Trinity all night long. You don't play, you don't coach, yet claim some kind of ownership of what teams that play over 300 miles away should be doing. You don't know what I do. When people assume something they make an ass out of themselves. I'll advise you to not assume things you don't know.;)

Furthermore, I can care less if DLS beat the brakes off SoCal teams but if they can't beat the Southern elites they need to stay home. Bottom line.

You seem like the type of dude that believes in moral victories. You're probably a "we came close but not close enough" but that's okay type of guy. Sorry but I'm not that guy and this is where we seem to be so different. You don't mind losing but I have a hard time with losing. I'm a competitor and it seems as if you're more of a pacifier. I'm an extravert and you're most likely an introvert. To each his own. Different strokes for different folks kinda sorta. Basically, don't bring that weak sauce to my house.

I am pretty certain the DLS coaching staff and school administration will have an emergency meeting today to discuss the points you raised in your post last night. Yup. Pretty certain.

Are you sure you made it to college? Caring about the reputation of CA high school football on your level seems a bit childish if you ask me. Speaking of assuming, you assume we care that you have a hard time losing. Fine. You don't have a dog in the fight. You can't claim ownership over the accomplishments, or lack there of, of a singular high school team of which you did not attend. Because you are from CA? Bleep your weak sauce, this isn't your house. Get over yourself.

They should because they've been very disappointing when facing elite teams from the South. Facts.

Who cares? What matters is did the kids learn from those games and losses and did they become better because of it, both as players/team and young adults? That is what matters. Not the lack of bragging rights to some dude in the South who used to live in NorCal. Truth.

More excuses but not surprised. In my 2Pac voice "I ain't mad at ya"

You need some serious help. If you need high school football to lord over your friends (which you refer to as country bumpkins. They must love that) your problems are larger than high school football.
If you care so much about this move home to Cali, start coaching, build a program, play Georgia schools and kick their ass. We will all be thrilled for you. You can save high school football in ca. You will be held in higher esteem than Logan, ladouceur, Johnson, and all the other ca legends.
By the way, I do know one thing about you. You would be a horrible teammate, blaming all that's wrong on others and not doing anything about it yourself. And don't tell me about winning and losing.. I coached for 17 years. I don't know how many wins I had but I know how many losses. And it was a lot less than the number of years I coached. Enjoy your narcissism. Btw, I would never enter your house, it's not a healthy place.

Real football fans, coaches and most important players know that bragging rights matter in all sports. You need to crawl from underneath that rock you've been under for the past century. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I agree with a lot that you have said but not all. Now I have a few things to say. Yes DLS had their chances to beat Trinity but one of the main reasons they didn't is because they lacked superior skill position players. You make it seem as if Trinity well coached superior athletes didn't play a factor in this game. Will I'm here to tell you they did. The wide outs for DLS are pedestrian at best. They didn't bring any thing to the table against Trinity. Had DLS receiver caught a crucial pass that was on point for a TD DLS would have most likely won that game. It shouldn't take 8-10 weeks of great coaching for a legit DB to compete against a legit WR or visa-versa. Coaching, technique and intensity beat a very athletic Centennial team but I doubt that will do the trick against a very athletic well coached Southern team.

So far I'm right in this regard because when was the last time DLS beat a very athletic Florida or Texass team? Now I give them credit for beating a mediocre Byrnes team from South Caca_laca but that's not Georgia, Florida or Texass football. Like I said, if DLS had the athletes that Centennial has year end and year out they would beat the best Southern teams in my opinion. Football starts up front but if you don't have superior athletes in the skill positions you will struggle beating well coached teams that do. For DLS to compete with these very well coached Southern teams they need very athletic skill position players. Fact. Once they start getting these types of players than they should take their show to the South. Right now don't do it because it's becoming embarrassing to Cali football.

You have to have Thorobreds to compete with Thorobreds or it makes it tough. That said, you can't tell me that those southern programs are better than CC or SJB or Bishop Gorman. It goes back to travel and weather conditions. Play these teams on a neutral field with normal weather and they would beat them IMO.

I am so glad to find another comrade that spells thorobreds the same as me. ;-)

Here's another one for you- It kills me when they say "chomping at the bit" instead of "champing at the bit". Don't get me started with their there they're. Throw in loose and lose.

Mr. PG showed my son your post and he actually felt real bad he let you down. Actually we ended up rehashing the game and talked in length. He's very apologetic and wants you to know he will make sure that the underclassmen know how important it is for you to not be embarrassed by whoever it is that does that to you when the team
Looses to elite south teams. He did say that beating Byrnes last year at least helped with your southeast friends or is it west. Godspeed

Hey Sicwidit, DLS beat an Evangel Christian team a few years back, hopefully that helps you and your son sleep better at night too. Oh, and by the way, if you're buddies make you feel embarrassed about high school football results and you're well into your adult years, perhaps you should reevaluate your friends and your priorities.

Sorry to hear that "Sick-with-It." Tell your son he didn't let me down the coaches and administration did for schedule these superior athletic teams in the south without matching their talent. Coaching can only go so far at the end of the day. If you don't have the horses to compete with the horses in the south stay home.

Adam, that Evangel Christian team is not on the level as these very athletic Georgia, Florida or Texass programs. JBO my friend...

I understand the fans and super fans supporters of DLS like yourself are the big reason it's so big. Keep representing DLS to those haters. I'll remind the nephews the poly contingent next time we play down south how fans like you keep it real. Ride or Die!! Spartan Polyhood. Asiasi. Tagaloa. Itaotua. Leutulisolega. Faaita. The next wave.

Wait, you mean Riley Cooper from Florida (south) is not as good as Deshawn Desean Jackson from California?
Exactly what I'm saying. Desean is the type of skill player needed at DLS to beat teams in the south that have better skill players than Riley. Desean alone would have been more than enough added talent on offense to help DLS beat Trinity this year. Once again, if you don't have the talent at the skill position don't schedule teams from the south.

Look bruh I have nothing against Polyhood but if DLS is going to compete with these super athletic Cam "Dabbing" Newton type athletes in the south they need to have the best athletes from Cali representing them. Let's be real. The best athletes from Nor-Cal are from the hoods. For example, Richmond, Oakland, Vallejo, Pittsburg, Del Paso Heights, Potrero Hills and so on and so on. The true elite speed comes from these types of hoods in Nor-Cal. If DLS was loaded up in the skill position with these kids they would be untouchable in my honest opinion. Not a super fan of DLS bruh. Just a fan of Cali football and if you don't have the athletes to compete with the southern teams on your roster stop scheduling these teams. It would be great to see DLS beat a well coached superior athletic team for once instead of getting beat. If DLS schedule Colquitt County for next year they'll get beat. CC has too many athletes in which DLS doesn't have the answer for this on their campus. It is what it is ("Donald Trump" voice).
