Martin Luther King classic at De La Salle 1/20

  • "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy"

  • "True peace is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice"

  • "The time is always right to do what is right"

That first one is my fav MLK quote… stands true in life and applies heavily to sports!! Enjoy the day!!

We never quit!! Tough game to lose. What we know is what we can do, hats off to the Players. Gavin Sykes!!

Guessing DLS lost based on the lack of updates on their X account after halftime?

Seems like they go dark on reporting losses, but will post final scores of W’s only.

Blair also missed the DLS game with a shoulder injury.

Salesian rolled Clovis West

Entertaining 4th Q. Glad the young MC team did not wither, and I think the travel caught up with St Joes a bit in that last Q. But they are a great team, well coached and finished with just enought to get the W.

Yes I did. Though it would be the start to a good lead if he played. "Blair almost missed the DLS game with a shoulder injury before he came charging out of the locker room" LOL

I thought MC made a game of it just when it seemed like they were about to lose big. Gavin played great, but St. Joseph's began playing physical defense on him that appeared to ware him down. MC got back in the game running sets and moving the ball, but once they were back they went back to iso 1 on 1 basketball allowing St. Joseph's to focus on stopping 1 player. Ball game.

I caught most of the SJ - MC game - SJ very good team - really impressed with Julius Price super solid PG and Tounde's athleticism is off the charts and they have solid role players. I can see them going far in the NorCal Open. MC had a great 16-0 run in the fourth quarter but ran out of gas late. Gavin Sykes super impressive quick explosive leaper and Miles Jones really solid. Need more help from their role players to compete at these levels IMHO.

DLS game was a snooze-fest given that Blair didn't play - DLS didn't show me much although SS is HUGE and possibly DLS should have pressed them although SS's PG was super quick so that might have ended badly.....

Salesian was Salesian although I wonder if they have the size to compete with the best teams in the state. I said that last year as well and they ended up giving H-W all they wanted in the state title game and I think they might be marginally better this year.

Lastly - I saw the Curtin brothers there scouting the games - preparing for the inevitable NorCal Open games against St Joseph / MC / Salesian and even DLS if Blair is able to almost singlehandedly will them into the Open.
